I don't agree with this. I think John Henson, Ed Davis, and Jordan Hill are all attainable for us this offseason.
If Gay opts out (signs for less or leaves) or we let Thomas go, our payroll will be low enough to offer the MLE without going over the tax level. Hill and Davis are both good candidates for that MLE contract.
As far as getting John Henson, many Bucks fans seem to be willing to move Henson pretty effortlessly. Their logic is that Sanders and Henson don't compliment one another, so one of them has to be moved. Since Sanders value is at an all time low right now, they don't see themselves being able to get a fair return in any deal that sends out Sanders. However, Henson doesn't have that problem, so there goal is to move Henson, surround the team with more complimentary pieces, and hope Sanders returns to form.
If we were to trade back and pick up a mid first rounder and Henson for the 7th pick, I think that would be a good deal for us to make. I'm not too excited about the players I think will be available at #7, so why not pick up our shotblocker and a mid first rounder in the meantime? The Bucks don't have a mid first rounder which means a third team would have to be included to make the deal work.
SAC In:
Henson
17th pick
Sac Out:
7th pick
Terry (or Landry if we can swing it)
MIL In:
14th pick
MIL Out:
Henson
PHO In:
7th pick
Terry (or Landry if we can swing it)
PHO Out:
14th pick
17th pick
If we are able to dump Landry, pick up a young, athletic shotblocker who can spread the floor, and still have a mid first round pick, I would be ecstatic.
