Rudy Gay to Sacramento!!!

I wouldn't bet money on that, if I were you.[/quoteYeah...especially since JT is our only other serviceable big man now, and if we were to move him, then Acy would be a decent [a
Personally, I'm hoping for Rondo or Asik. Rondo would instantly change the outlook of this team. We would be great in 4/5 positions
I would have to think that any trade we are involved in now has to be for another 4/5 to play alongside DMC, because we aren't stacked up front with quality bigs outside of DMC/JT/William...that's it, we gots nada outside of them.

I'm still puzzled why the **** did the Kings let go of Whiteside and Aldrich, then have to settle with N'Diaye.
Because Whiteside had horrible work ethics and had reached his potential in this league, and Aldrich COULD have been a serviceable 3rd or 4th big, but nothing to lose sleep over by letting him go...and we're not building our team around N'Diaye, he's just a young body that works hard for Malone, and who know, he might be a good energy guy at the end of our bench down the road because of that energy/work ethic.

Well N'Diaye can be a foul fodder but Whiteside has had a great season so far in China this year, was the finals mvp, defensive player of the year, averaged 25.7 pts, 16.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 5.1 blocks.

I'm very interested in what you think a combination of Salmons, Hayes, Patterson and Vasquez can get you.
not much. i've already stated that i believe PDA did well in dumping scrubs for a player of value. however, i'm not going to be suckered into believing that rudy gay is somebody other than the player that he is simply because of the excitement generated by the kings' involvement in a big trade...

say what you want about tyreke evans, that guy will get you 4-5 apg while taking most of his shots near the rim. gay, on the other hand, takes about as many long twos as shots at the rim, and he shoots those long twos very poorly. he's a chucker of the highest order, and he's exactly the kind of player kings fans have been hoping the team would purge from the roster. he's a good rebounder from the SF position, but the kings are talking about using him as a stretch 4, where i imagine he'll struggle, defensively and on the boards...

overall, it's absolutely a talent upgrade. but, in my opinion, the value of the acquisition lies in gay's contract, which will act as a tremendous expiring deal in the '14-'15 season, right as the kings should have an opportunity to bring in considerable talent via free agency. in the meantime, i maintain that rudy gay will do little to actually make this team better...

Anyone against the trade because it kills our 2014 caproom needs to think for a second. The Kings have never been a major player in free agency, we will probably never be able to sign a player of Gay's quality through free agency, we will be able to sign players like Vasquez, Salmons, Patterson and Hayes(2 of those are Petrie signings). Even in our hayday our best signings were Jim Jackson, Keon Clark with our crown jewel through free agency was Brad Miller. I loved Brad but when you say he has been your best free agent signing(in my memory at least) it makes these trades absolute no-brainers. At worst we continue to stink and we get a stud through the draft with a huge expiring next year, or Gay walks(doubtful).

Marc Stein from ESPN is reporting that the Kings aren't done dealing, they are shopping JT as well(which I assume they would try and package with Jimmer and Thornton or a combination of the three). Wow these guys are cleaning house.
My Prediction: Marcus Thornton and Jason Thompson for Charlotte's Bismack Biyombo and Ben Gordon (ender).

Why Kings do it? They shed MT and JT massive salary and get a young shot blocker in Biyombo to put next to Cousins and Gay. Ben Gordon is an ending contract and will be bought out, if he can't be dealt at the trade deadline.

Why Charlotte does it? JT would instantly become their starting PF and MT gives them an added scorer and legit 15-20 ppg scorer. Charlotte's best chance of finally making it into the playoffs, with Michael Jordan as owner.

Thats because near the rim was the limit to his range, to argue that Evans is a better player than Gay is crazy. Gay can drive, hit the midrange and 3 pt shot, rebound and handle the ball and finish at the rim. Tyreke was as predictable as the sun rising every day, drive to his right and try and finish at the rim, yes he had a great handle but when the defense knows exactly what your going to do, it became way too easy to contain him. Just look at how Tyreke is doing now with the Pelicans, having an atrocious season and being beaten out of the rotation by Alfaruq Aminu. Hopefully he can pull it together, its not looking good at all for Tyreke, other than the huge paychecks of course.

Just realized I got two free tix to the Utah game (from the Kings blood drive a while back) where he would play his first game with us and I don't know that I can go, as it is my MIL birthday and we will likely be doing something with her instead. Still a chance she wants to do something a different night instead, so I will keep my fingers crossed.

FWIW I would rather have all our inefficient shooters combined into one player that can do other things as well. Obviously have no idea how this grand experiment will work, but what we had wasn't working and bringing in big names usually helps on the trading block later, if need be.

Would love to see them, but they have all been anywhere from meh to LOL @ anyone taking Gay.[/quote]

Tyreke is hurt. He was not beaten out, and he was playing pretty well over the past two weeks.

Not sure what to think about this one.

We got rid of 4 guys who had no future with the team.

We got a guy who was as solid as they come at the SF position, but he's been on a downward trend the last few years. Toronto is rejoicing getting rid of him. The bad news is there's no way he's going to opt out of next year so we have $19mil wrapped up in him next season. The good news is that we weren't going to sign anyone as good as Gay anyway so it's worth a shot.

What's the plan for the front office? Are they trying to win this year? Next year? Do they really think we can start Williams or Gay at the PF spot? Are they just going to throw a bunch of players at this team until something sticks or is there a specific plan?

As of right now we are in line to have a good shot at a potential superstar in next years draft. I hope we don't throw it away for a year and a half of Rudy Gay and a pair of 30 win seasons.

this may or may not have had anything to do with the management's seeming lack of belief in the tank (I believe it doesn't), but I wonder if some in the FO believe that the class coming out is a bit overrated and 7-8 interchangeable and deep

Then Isaiah, outlaw, Thornton for rondo and marshon brooks
Boston is not going to trade Rondo for MT and Outlaw. Rondo will only be traded for high draft picks. Danny Ainge is trying to rebuild with young cheap talent, he would have not interest in MT and Outlaw unless they were enders and came with a couple of first round picks.

I think the front office believes there are quality players to be found in any draft and it's up to your scouts to get as much information as possible so that no matter where you draft, you pick a player with the best chance of success for your needs.

The difference between Ray and GV is that Ray can play defense....if I'm Sac I'm getting the kid minutes starting tomorrow. If they put Jimmer at PG, I'll be extremely disappointed. There's no point in doing that
Uh, and Vasquez can play PG...

I don't understand why some of you think Ray McCallum is our savior. You all saw this guy in summer league and preseason. He can't shoot. Supposedly he can handle, and he's reasonably fast and can jump high, so you say he can score at the rim, but he can't finish. The offense looks like 4 on 5 with Ray Mac out there unless the ball is in his hands, but what is he going to do with the ball in his hands? He can't score, and he has less point guard skills than Jimmer! I don't think that's a fair price for better defense. Even if you think it is: This team will get discouraged and not play any defense anyway if the offense doesn't go well, which is what will happen with Ray at the point.

They might be trying to build the best possible team so that free agents will be at least interested in talking about coming to Sacramento.

Why is it being said that Gay will play PF for us? Does anybody here actually see that? Same "media type" said Williams would play PF and he didn't.

I was hoping the Kings got Monta Ellis this summer.. Everyone was bashing on him because of his shooting %. Now hes on a new team and hes killing it in dallas.. Hopefully Rudy can do the same here in Sac.
This is really exciting, cant wait for Wednesday... So much for finals week
To be honest, I wanted Jeremy Lin :D
