Bobby Portis right now is the 2nd or 3rd best big man from the rookies after KAT and maybe Zinger due to Zinger doing it for longer. This new crop of big men has been super exciting

KAT is like the next big thing
Zinger all around good
Portis is aggressive as hell with sweet touch
Turner sweet touch great timing on shot blocking
Okafor has a top 5 post game in the NBA
Jokic absolute steal in the 2nd round him and Nurkic going to form some Balkans connection in Denver.
WCS could be a top notch defender
Trey Lyles looks decent

Not since the 2010 draft with Cuz/Moose/Favors have there been this many quality bigs

Edit forgot about Frank the tank as well

I agree. These are very interesting big man prospects. But as a Kings Fan I'm concerned, that every player you mentioned save from Okafor and our own prospect Willie can shoot the ball. I think we really see the evolution of the big man positions taking place. Those guys can space the floor and are able to guard the perimeter. Those may be absolute necessitiess in todays NBA. We are the one of a few teams I know with 3 PF/C (KK, Willie, Acy), who can't shoot. And Cousins jumper is off recently.
I really hope Willie can develop a jumpshot soon. If not hrdboild may have been right, that Myles Turner would have been the better draft choice for this team.

I wouldn't call them absolute necessities, but you do need to have extra passing/creativity to carve a top 15 offense out of two non-shooting bigs. Point is, talent is scarce, and anyone taller than 6'8 and also able to knock down a three and move his feet will command big money (or a high draft pick), including our own Casspi. My personal prediction is that smart teams will zag and start investing into more complete basketball players rather than overpriced pure shooters. Which is not dissimilar to what teams like Atlanta and Houston did when smallball, three point shooting etc. were not so en vogue.

If your building around Cousins than Portis right now was the guy we should have picked cause he's got quickness/size/jump shooting while Turner is similar to Cousins in that he's slow footed, it would not surprise me if both are way better than WCS but in saying that I think WCS will be a good player you can cheer for and a guy who gives good production but the other guys got a lot more tools while he's a specialist. I'm a big WCS fan but he probably was not the best player avaliable but that won't stop me from cheering for him based on his attitude and the way he goes about things.

I don't think you could go wrong with either 3 but Bulls do what they always do and find a STUD late in the first round, I was blown away when I saw Bobby in SL for the first time where he just went for KATs heart right away reminds me of KG in that department (way different players) he's got that KG look in his eyes.

Also once Turner puts weight on man the L is in trouble he's got a good frame with a insanely feathery touch.

Well obviously we have to wait and see, which rookie can keep things going. But I watched the Chicago vs NYC game this morning and was impressed how aggressive and how confident Portis is. The moment he stepped on the court he made an impact, made all the right plays and wasn't afraid to take shots or make plays.
Our own rookie just stays out of the way on offense, lacks aggression and only shoots the ball when forced to do so. I'm certainly not saying WCS was the wrong pick, but I wonder why he is holding back that much.
Is it because of his teammates, is it because of our coach? I don't know, but I think we need our young guns in Ben and WCS to get out there and make something happen.

Portis is on a team with hard working unselfish vets while the Kings on the other hand......

Still not sure why the hell the Lakers are playing Larry Nance II ahead of Julius Randle but then again Byron Scott is a bad coach so what do I know?

James Harden with quite possibly the stupidest foul in the history of fouls as the Rockets struggle to hold off the Jazz. I know he's never been Tony Allen on defense but hot damn what the hell?

Thank you to the Warriors for slapping the crap out of the Lakers in Staples because ... well, because it's the Lakers.

it always tickles me, when a slow-footed plodding guy makes a fool out of a much quicker and athletic guy. seeing it happen between Robin Lopez and Hassan right now.

Pelicans lost to Mavs who sat 4 starters after playing us. I guess ... that's a good thing?
If NBA was Game of Thrones Rick Carlise would be the original White Walker the guy just resurrects the dead and makes a decent army out of them. Felton, Charlie, Javale, Powell all playing at a high level he even got quality mins from Jeremy Evans they just completely outclassed a way more talented team. There rookie despie his low IQ looks like he will be a solid rotation player plays with great energy and is built like a fire hydrant.

Also what on earth happened to Asik?He basically the white Kendrick Perkins ( who ironically they have) he's probably by far the worst starter in the NBA him and Gee can't even combine for 5 points.

the fact that Gee start for them is a travesty.

Deron Williams bricks a easy wide open two pointer against the Bucks on a last second shot......

If the the Jazz are in the 8th seed by the time the coaches pick All Stars Gordon Hayward has to be picked surely, he's kept the team afloat despite them starting a 3rd string PG and having the worst injury luck in the NBA. Hopefully he gets some recognition if the Jazz can come close to the 500.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Nets fired Lionel Hollins...he is a good coach IMO. I'd really love to see Jeff Van Gundy coach again however, his TV analysis on the game is spot on every time I listen to him.
