I posted about my dislocated shoulder in the game thread I guess - I didn't see it was a labral tear, and not sure if that is exactly what I had or not, but I was told no physical activity for 10 weeks after mine. I had also a small fracture of the humerus at the joint and thankfully it has never slipped out again. However any inflammation (bad eating habits do this to me) will re-ignite pain in the area 15 years later.

That's really unfortunate for Kevin and us. He is likely done for the season. Hope he takes the time to recover fully and get in a better shape for next season. Get well soon, Red Velvet.

He is an integral part of our spacing in offense with his gravity and prevent opponents from packing the paint. Without Kevin, Lyles, and Sasha, we are certainly lacking in fire power especially from beyond the arc.

What a disaster that crappy scrub team takes out a guy like Kev for us for the year. Kev certainly hasn't been perfect to put it mildly, but this team operates much better when he is on his game and even if we all seem to agree that it might be time to move him to a bench role if he embraces that role and thrives in it we'll be better for it.

But it's water under the bridge so it will be interesting to see how minutes are redistributed beyond Keon.

It sucks for sure. It was just too late in the year for an injury like that to occur. Now the question is whether or not Kevin has already played his last game as a King. Good news again is this shouldn't be a disqualifying thing when it comes to the work Monte is going to have to get to in the summer.

We're a different level offensively when he's right. A big reason why we've had luls offensively is because he's had stretches where he's struggled.

Probably his last game as King. Will always be a great one though, one of the key dudes to spark oue turn around

I wonder after this year if Monk was promised a starting spot next to Fox. If our choices were to continue to develop Ellis as a starter next to Fox, and lose Monk, or put Keon back on the bench after this year, start Monk in order to keep him playing for the Kings, I think I would put Keon back on the bench. I think Monk has a lot to do with our success. While he could still get 30MPG coming off the bench, I think it's a pride thing after what's he's done to help us over the last two years that he gets the starting nod at SG next year. Crappy problem to have, but we could probably do a small ball starting lineup with Murray at 4 and Keon at 3, because I think Keon can defend the 1-2-3 really well so I don't think we would lose a lot defensively with the lack of size because of Keon's elite defending. He and Murray have been on another level this year. I think Keon is better than Murray right now, but I think they both can feed off each other on the floor together. Add Sabonis, Monk and Fox and we don't lose anything offensively. That would mean that we put Barnes on the Bench which is fine, and I am sure he would be good with it because of playing with a perennial winning/playoff team. We would need an overhaul on the bench though. We would have Barnes, Len, Lyles and Sasha, but our guards on the bench would be Mitchell and Huerter.

I don’t think we can pull off Fox Monk Keon in a long term starting lineup. IMO Keon is trending towards being an elite guard defender and moving him to the 3 would reduce his effectiveness somewhat. I hope we retain Monk but it sure looks like Keon has cemented that 2 guard role. If he continues his trajectory, Monte just raised his teams ceiling considerably.

Who knows if Brown has been setting up for Monk to take over a starting spot long term, or if negotiations might demand that, but this is someone that literally hasn't started a SINGLE GAME with the Kings. Even when injuries made it the easy call. The Kings see him as their super 6th man from the looks of it, and it's working so far. Now whether a team sees Monk as a starter is something else entirely. The closest comps to him in recent history are Jordan Clarkson and Jordan Poole. Typically players like that certainly have value but when overpaid almost always seem to leave teams regretting it. How much he's worth to the Kings is shown in the playoffs but obviously they're capped on offers anyway.

I don’t think we can pull off a Fox Monk starting backcourt period. It’s too close to the Dame CJ backcourt which Portland proved over and over was capped in how far it could advance.

If Orlando wants to offer Malik a starting spot I am perfectly happy to take that money and offer Jonathon Isaac a starting spot.

the interesting thing about the Orlando situation is that they have a Monk type player in Cole Anthony. He started for them a couple years ago and averaged 16 5 and 5 in 31 minutes. They have relegated him to that lead guard of the bench role and now he is only getting 23 minutes a night. Malik is a better player (although Cole is only 23 and has plenty of time to get better). I’m starting to wonder if Monk is even the type of upgrade they will be looking for. Instead, I could see them throwing a big two yearm deal at Klay (similar to Fred Vanvleet). They bring in elite shooting and championship experience while keeping their books in good shape long term and Klay gets a shot at proving himself in a prominent role and a place to take his boat.

Yeah, everyone seems to think the Magic are a good fit, but they have a pile of good young guard talent they've invested in. They have a Fultz decision this off-season, 6th overall pick on Black, Cole Anthony is their version of Monk and Suggs is a locked in starter at one of their guard slots.

I think they're far more likely to just stay invested in their own pieces and like you said, look to add vet pieces to their young core. Adding a huge USG guy like Monk doesn't make a lot of sense.

Spurs to me are the real threat. Wemby has serious appeal and if Monk wanted to run a team, that'd be the situation to go into being "the man" with Wemby. But even there, does he want to potentially move backwards to a rebuilding situation?

Not worried one bit about DET/Utah/CHA.
