I am on different opinion , forbid defence at all and let the teams just score !
Then we will stop trying to improve Kings defence and we will play funny All start basketball all the time ;)

I wonder what impact if any a three second rule has on that though? The efficiency is coming mostly from three pointers right? 75 percent of players have a 3 point shot of some sort now, 15 years ago that was probably around 30 percent. I also think the talent is several levels above where it was 10 years ago. Faster pace. Guys are playing longer, better training, nutrition etc.

I love watching defense but I tune in for the special offensive talent only the nba offers. I don’t watch much college ball because the teams suck in comparison. I’m just glad free throw rates are down league wide. Can’t stand watching contact seekers

I think it'll affect everything. Players are so damn good at the rim now and just allowing for better defensive positioning on dribble-drives so they don't get free kick outs all day everyday. It'd be hard to believe that defenses wouldn't get drastically better without defensive 3 second

Silver created this monster, can he tame it or does he need to off with its head?
Yep, and Stern started the ball rolling with Bird and Magic in the mid-80's and onto Jordan into the 90's but Silver is allowing the mudslide to pick up too much speed and the actual integrity of the game is going with it. Silver bows to the betting market. Once any "sport" makes a dollar, it's no longer a sport, it's business. The balance is certainly out of whack and once the game goes a step too far and is so monochromatic that no player is different than the other, which it's getting close, look at all the top scorers and you basically see what used to be on ball scoring guards regardless of size, then the audience will drop. Then and only then might some type of balancing go down. The elimination of position also eliminates differentiation.

this is probably my favorite part that you wrote here. It's one reason why I don't currently have a favorite NBA player, all the jerseys I own are players that have been retired and to this day, I mimic those players when I do drills at the park. The differentiation is still there for a few players who mix their games up but sports has always been a business first model, no billionaire owner is going to fork over his and his shareholders money to just put a product out there without investment in return. The whole sports betting blowing up is only making this more eye opening in terms of how the rules are currently constructed and how the officials are encouraged to call certain calls for players. Now, in the Playoffs, I do admit that they let more go, and that's what I will be looking out for. Indiana's GOAT offense for this season is not going to work in the Postseason just like it didn't work for the Kings last Postseason.

Okc is killing everybody these days. Really good on defense and the highest 3 point shooting percentage in the league will do that. Can’t imagine they are going to shoot 42-44 percent all season….. right?

yeah I wanted to come and comment on OKC's strong play as of late. They beat Denver handily in Denver and then they beat a healthy Celtics squad. On top of that, they are one of the youngest rosters in the association so I wonder if Presti has any plans on surrounding them with some vets to help them in the Postseason or if he will just let them all grow organically through trial and error

my guess is he does nothing this year and then maybe makes a move next year. Really they just need a 4 with size and tighten up a few things on the bench and they are set.

If I'm Presti, I think I'm in DET's ear about Cade and pushing my chips in for him. Maybe Giddey+a million FRP? J-dub and like ...3?ish FRP? I don't want it to happen because a young core of SGA/Cade/Chet would be legendary and incredibly tough to ever beat. But they should be looking to push their chips in now, while everyone is still so young and cheap and give themselves an actual 5+ year window to compete for a title before they have to pay J-Dub/Chet/Giddey. They're probably good enough already, but the fact they have the ability to add pretty much whatever team is selling their star is just truly absurd. Lauri would also be an unreal (scary) fit with Chet at the 4.

I don’t think they want to trade JDub. He is pretty much a perfect fit as a third or fourth type of star. I agree on Lauri. My guess is they try to get him in the off season. Cason Wallace, Josh Giddey and 2 first round picks could get it done. They have Houston’s pick this year which is likely top ten plus maybe one future one.

Yeah maybe, but Presti is also the general manager who had eight years of Durant and Westbrook, and three years of Durant, Westbrook and Harden, and a single conference banner to show for it. Guy gives me big time "dog who caught the car" energy and, once he finally gets the players he wants, I have no faith in his ability to actually put them in a position to succeed.

I wonder if the Bulls would trade Lavine for Ben Simmons and one of their young players they drafted last year? The Bulls get out from under the Simmons contract after next season and the Nets get an all star to pair with Bridges. They would still have a ton of draft picks to trade for an upgrade at the 1.
