Isaiah Thomas watch

I'm sure Sessions wants to start, but notice we haven't heard a peep out of him on that front. Does IT think he's the only bench player in the league who wants to start? Bench players all over want to start but only one keeps talking about it ad nauseam.
Maybe because the media doesn't ask Sessions about starting in every other interview? Making a lot of something, from nothing. Let's not pretend IT didn't' say he'd be happy wherever he can contribute though. I'm sure Sessions would say the same as IT if he was asked. Don't crucify the guy for wanting to start!

We're keeping Dragic but give us McLemore and Landry plus a lotto protected 1st for Bledsoe.

May need to add fillers to match salaries but yea.
I don't think I'd do it. McLemore is showing his potential. He's becoming a good defender this year, along with a reliable offense. Here's a trade I'd really consider... I'd trade Stauskas+Sessions+Landry+1st round protected for Bledsoe, TJ Warren, and rights to Bodganovic.

STR also posted a bunch of articles over the summer about how the Kings were going to suck this season because we let IT go. Point being, STR is, just like here, mostly a bunch of commentary with a smattering of news aggregation.
Off topic to the pels game and rudy but worth a gander if you don't venture into isaiah Thomas watch. Mods feel free to move it if this hijacks the thread.

DC vs IT stats.

I still scratch my head at what Phx was thinking.

"At issue with the Suns and Dragic is the guard logjam on the team, which Dragic addressed on Tuesday. He told AZCentral.com’s Paul Coro that the reason for some of Phoenix’s early struggles this year is, “Because there’s only one ball and we’re all point guards. That’s an easy answer.”

To which I say "Duh." Not sure Phx knew this could/would drive Dragic out of town. Seemed like a fairly obvious inevitability. SOMEONE has to go. And I think the odds of Dragic staying on with IT in town are fairly low. PHX just found that out.

Stay tuned.

An interesting round table discussion of where they are at and IT's role. Seems to have been written BEFORE Dragic mentioned opting out.

Given Pho is a division opponent, I'm rooting for this to get ugly, to the point Dragic bolts in free agency and they're left with Bledsoe/IT.

Will make them worse and help us going forward.

In general, it amazes me some NBA FO personnel to this day don't understand the "there's only 1 ball" issue. Pho made their bed, now they'll have to sleep in it and it'll be tough when a few super models are telling Dragic how much nicer it would be to lay in their beds a few months from now.

Yep, this is nothing but good news for the Kings.

I was actually counting on the Suns being a team that slips. It just looked like a mess about to happen. Maybe they get it together. But maybe they don't.

I'm not sure how they straighten this out. I think a whole bunch of us could have warned them.

Suns win 88-86. IT went 1-9, 5 points, 3 reb, 2 assists and a steal.
The Suns seem to play better when IT plays less. Not a good trend considering he's on their team for the considerable future.

Also, they barely beat the Pistons, who right now are a team in relative disarray.

They almost blew a late lead. IT wasn't in late. Right now he's not even the Suns best guy off the bench (Gerald green). 6th man talk was a bit premature.

IT 2-17 the last two games. Somehow the Suns won both games (celtics and Pistons on the road). He's not finishing at the rim at all the last couple games. Or anywhere else.

Down to .405 shooting.

You guys here mostly would really NOT do a Bledsoe for McLemore, Landry, lotto protected 1st, and scraps deal??? I'm shocked. Bledsoe would solve the 2 guard problem instantly - I do believe that would put us in the playoffs right now.

I would do it - I'd SNAP do it.

Lol, but Bledsoe isn't a 2 guard.. I don't see how the heck a 2PG system would work with Collison and Bledsoe. It only works with Dragic because he's 6'4 and can also play off the ball some. I'd much rather give up Nik instead of Ben. I think Ben has a higher ceiling.

"More importantly, Sacramento understood what it needed to take Mike Malone’s high-octane offense to the next level. Namely, a point guard willing and able to push the pace, without relying too heavily on ball-stalling heroics.

That, more than any single strategic concern, may have been why the Kings opted to jettison the faster, flashier Thomas. To wit: According to Grantland’s Zache Lowe, last season Thomas dribbled the ball nearly 200 times more per 36 minutes than Collison, who averaged merely 3.9 dribbles per touch while serving as the primary backup to the Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul."

And more.

"Collison came to California's capital essentially as a replacement for Isaiah Thomas. At first blush (and second, and third and fourth, for that matter), Collison looked to be a clear downgrade from his diminutive predecessor. After all, how could Collison, who seemed better suited to backup duty on a title contender, ever hope to duplicate the 20.3 points and 6.3 assists that Thomas contributed as a most-time starter last season?

As it turns out, the Kings didn't need him to. Collison has thrived at the point in Sacramento, posting career highs in points (15.9), rebounds (3.5), assists (seven) and steals (1.6) while turning the ball over less frequently than ever as a percentage of his possessions.

Collison may not be the pure talent that Thomas is, but he seems to be a better fit with these Kings. His willingness to pass and play off the ball feels like a breath of fresh air compared to Thomas' tendency to waste time with the dribble, leaving the likes of Cousins and Gay to wait anxiously for the ball."

Oh hey, look who's whining about playing time again.

A reporter began to ask him about the backcourt -- Dragic played a season-low 21 minutes, and sometimes it's Thomas in that position.

“It's always me,” Thomas interrupted, looking and sounding frustrated. “It's always me.”

Dragic said last week that the offense hadn't clicked yet “because there's only one ball and we're all point guards,” via the Arizona Republic. Thomas said playing off the ball wasn't new to him because he'd done it in college, but the minutes were an adjustment.

“As long as I'm in the game, I'm happy,” Thomas said. “That's the biggest thing. I know everybody wants to play. I feel like I can help this team in a big way.”

With the Kings, he was shuffled in and out of the starting lineup, especially in his first two seasons. He watched Tyreke Evans, Aaron Brooks, Greivis Vasquez and Jimmer Fredetteplay the point in front of him. Thomas has learned that he can't worry about the things he can't control. Still, this is challenging. Thomas has proven he's capable of producing like an All-Star, and so have Dragic and Bledsoe.

“It's a tough situation,” Thomas said. “But you've just got to be ready for whatever circumstances coach puts you in. You gotta be ready when your name is called, but I'm not going to sugarcoat it. It's tough.

“It's not what I expected,” Thomas continued. “But coach has a tough job. Putting all of us on the floor and trying to mix up the minutes, it's tough for him. So it's not just tough for us as players, we just gotta be ready when our name's called and just know, I mean, coach is trying to do what he thinks is best for the team to put us in a position to win. But the key word is it's a tough situation. For all of us.

And there it is.

I truly wish he could find a way to accept that he can be a real asset to the Suns, but he's not going to view it that way. For him, it's a "tough situation" because he's not getting the starter minutes he fully expected to have one way or the other.
