i thought it was a strange hire to begin with. scott skiles is decidedly a veteran's coach, and the roster he stepped into was decidedly not veteran in its make-up. skiles has never really shown a knack for developing a young team into a winner, and while his teams always play hard and compete on the defensive end, he's also rarely pushed those teams to an elite level. this could be quite the blessing-in-disguise for the magic if they act quickly to get frank vogel in the door for interview. they've made it clear that they want to establish a strong defensive identity, which was the intention when they hired skiles in the first place. vogel would be a much better fit for the magic's young talent...
