Kings & Rudy Gay reach agreement on 3 year contract extension!

Great deal for both sides. Good situation for Rudy, and he's not over- or underpaid. The Kings now have stable foundation for the next few years with the 3 top players signed long term.

What a steal, I thought for sure we would have to pay $16-$17 mil per to keep him, gives us a ton of cap space flexibility next summer to shore up some holes and bolster the bench.

I. AM. HAPPY.

This leaves us with buckets of money to fill in gaps next year.

Oh, and I must say, I am not surprised. Rudy has all the money he would need and his last contract was the punch line to a joke. He is re-writing the books about who Rudy Gay is. He has his head on straight.

I need some convincing. I like Rudy Gay but he honestly kills our team when he tries to go iso and takes those awful shots. He chucks a lot. Do you think this problem will ever be fixed?

He's been better here than anywhere else in his career. He gets a bad rep due to his time in Toronto, but if he wasn't chucking those awful shots, who would be? I'll live with the bad as long as we get mostly good out of Rudy. The deal is a complete steal and once we dump Williams' contract, PDA will have some $$$ to go out and bolster the bench.

He hasn't lost any game for us this year, in fact was key in quite a few of our wins, as long as you use him in the right spots he's one of the most skilled wings in the game. I rate him higher than Parsons or Hayward and we got him for cheaper. In a winning culture that we are starting to build with structure and Cuz clearly being the #1, he is very good. Toronto wanted to use him as the #1 T-Mac type, he isn't that, but as the #2 guy operating 17ft and down he is very good and now with a nice contract to boot that is easily tradeable if it ever comes to that(99.9% sure that will not happen).

Yes, and I don't see that he kills the team. If he was killing the team, we wouldn't have a winning season so far. I know your concern though. His best game is an iso play and that needs to be blended somehow with the team goals. As I have said with Tyreke and IT, I would not ask him to make a major change to his game. A tweak would be nice. We are 6-4.

Awesome to get him on a reasonable deal with the cap likely going up.

Even better that this gets taken care of NOW instead of becoming an offseason distraction. Or worse, an in-season distraction.

I want to know why Fay took less money you know he believes in us but damn what a bargain. He would have got 15+ the way he is playing and if we don't make a big money move this year we will have 8+ in cap space this year.

I think you gotta take the good with the bad. Should we probably not force the ball to Gay like we did a couple times down the stretch last night instead of Cousins? Yea

But look at it this way, we beat the San Antonio Spurs last night even though Rudy had a bad shooting night and DMC played 26 minutes. That is a damn good sign for this team. And Rudy Gay is playing like a top SF in the league right now.
