“RUN IT BACK!” / Monte needs to fix this.

There is no core on this team, per McNair's non-statement in his presser. He traded Halliburton and he would trade Fox, Sabonis or Murray in heartbeat if he got the right deal. Nobody is untouchable. For most "core" is just a synonym for who they like on the team and who they don't. It has...

    FIRE MIKE BROWN

More running doesn't necessarily translate into more spray 3s.

The questioner mentioned Fox, Sabonis and Murray, and then threw in HB and Heurter. McNair didn't bite on any of the names and inferred that nobody is untouchable.

Agreed. If anything, he leaned into the question even more by indirectly mentioning that he's shown he's not adverse to making big change (the Sabonis-Halliburton trade).

    Following Potential *2024* Draftees

Wait a minute. Didn't Giannis grow 4-5" after he was drafted? And this kid is further away than that?

I noted with interest that McNair TOTALLY sidestepped the question this morning about "the core." He just diverted the answer to improving the team.

    FIRE MIKE BROWN

Brown had some interesting comments in the presser. When asked about the offense the first thing he talked about was the regression in "pace." Implied that part of it was a lack of clarity on when to run on makes or misses, but then also said they didn't run hard enough to the corners off the...

Ok, I'm good with the pick. We can end this thread now.

Is it? You'd have to do a comparative analysis of the top 20% of the league to figure that one out.

I think that's fair. Essentially, we're going to see this upcoming off-season what not overpaying and patience bought us.

    Potential Free agent/trade/sign tracker

We had more defense though. Ellis and Mitchell took a lot of those minutes. Heurter and Monk aren't going to stop anybody. Also, Heurter didn't even have much of a year on offense, so the Kings got neither offense nor defense from him.

    Trade Fox???

I agree with this, and I would guess nearly everybody agrees.

It's Length X Athleticism. The LA product. Kings are subpar in LA and are falling further behind in the race.

    KING IN ARABIC

Sabonis isn't the GM. I love him as a player, but I don't care about his his GM perusing.

    Keegan “KEEGAN MURRAY” Murray

Good interview with Fox this morning and he had some interesting things to say about Murray's development: he needs to get better as a ball handler, especially with the pick and roll and he needs to be willing to "not give a damn" if he doesn't make shots and continue to be aggressive. Murray's...

    KING IN ARABIC

He's an excellent 6th man type and it would be a loss if he left without any compensation to the Kings. That said, I don't view him as a key to the foundation of the Kings moving forward. Sixth men are typically the cherry on top of the cake, not the cake itself. I find myself chagrined...

They said the same thing about the Kings a couple of years ago. I wouldn't dismiss any of them.

And Utah and Portland won't stand still either. Utah has a lot of draft capital and Ainge will be looking to use it to get better.

“RUN IT BACK!” / Monte needs to fix this.

I don't see how McNair is going to catch up to teams like NO, OKC, Houston and others who have much more trade/draft capital than the Kings and are improving at a faster pace than the Kings. Essentially, it seems he's left to do more with less (than other teams), which is a daunting and risky...

    FIRE MIKE BROWN

I'm not in favor of firing Mike Brown in the least. To get players to buy into defense in the NBA is of the more difficult things a coach can do and Brown has done it. He did change the culture for the better. Ellis and Mitchell both improved fantastically. Keegan's defense improved. Heck...
