Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

There should be at least some trade we can deal right? No upgrade in summer then winter is not ideal imo.
I think Monte understands it either needs to be a short term move that doesn’t cost many assets or a long term bet that sets us up for a serious run. More assets open up once that pick conveys to Atlanta in the summer

I am not convinced there is not a single move, even 2nd for rotational player can’t be made. We are standing pat for too long.

you can’t just make a trade just to make one. It has to be calculated. Monte has said it himself, patient but aggressive when the time is right. Fans want a trade for change but a GM can’t operate like that. I’m sure he will make a move if the fit is right.

So we can only play the trust Monte card now? We dont make a trade to make a trade. We make a trade to improve the team. This is what he should do. I can’t talk myself into not making a move from summer to winter is smart.
But there is 1 day left before deadline, we will see.

Of course I trust him. He is the executive of the year and we are in year two of our core (Fox Sabonis Murray). We aren’t winning a championship this year, if you can add a Delon wright for cheap? I say do it. If you add a very good wing without giving up 2 first rounders and giving us no flexibility? Maybe do it. I want to get better this year but I am willing to play the long game

Bryan Colangelo was also the executive of the year if that means anything. Monte was executive of the year last season but this season he has done nothing. There are teams out there getting rotation players with 2nd round picks. There is long term moves but there is also short terms moves to be made for this season without sarcificing too much. He got paid millions to look for that deal.

Monte needs to step up and I hope to see it by the deadline.

No he is paid millions to make the right decision at the right time, not appease fans . It’s ok, we don’t agree on this but we both want the kings to succeed so we can for sure agree on that

Here's the thing, I don't think there's a single trade out there that saves our season (making us a guaranteed playoff team). What's wrong with De'Aaron Fox? This is largely the same team from last year, but he's not playing the same. The entire team doesn't have the same energy nor effort as last year. I know we don't have the element of surprise anymore, but it feels like most of our struggles this year have been on the shoulders of Fox. He seems mentally checked out, and I don't think there's a single trade that could bring him back. I don't get it. The team around him is not bad. Sabonis is an All-NBA caliber player who's playing the best basketball of his career. Monk is having another consistent and good year. Murray has been inconsistent, but he's made a leap on both ends while trying to shoulder on more responsibilities. Huerter and Barnes have been pretty inconsistent this year, but nothing terrible enough to merit cosmic shifts in Fox's game and attitude.

This team should not be struggling like this. Adding Caruso, DFS, Kuzma, etc. will not change anything because this team starts and ends with Fox.

What trade can we make to make Fox better? He has really stunk it up several games this last month and free throws aren’t getting any better.
I mean, he was pretty much back during this road trip:

26.3 PPG
3.6 RPG
3.6 APG
2.8 SPG
74% FT (7.1 FTA)
30.6% from 3 (7 3PA)
58.6% TS

The problem is the total no show games ,like tonight. Especially with a few of the other guys struggling, it needs to be him and Domas on their game, taking it home for the W.

The thing about all of this is Monte knows he only has so many chances and so much time. That's why he was so aggressive on draft night to dump salary. Plan A didn't work, plan B was run it back clearly with the intention of spinning those pieces off into something else at a later time. He's trying and his two top options didn't pan out in OG and Siakam. Times ticking. Most of the big name dominoes bandied about the last few seasons have been moved now and things are settling around the league. Monte has to start working further down that wish list since he obviously doesn't see this current combination as a contender on paper. If talent upgrade isn't possible then possibly changing the dynamic of the team to fill more needs is on deck. The gamble there is always potentially destroying your identity to a degree and receding as a result. Monte's not at the gamble stage but adding some positional need fillers, or even just cutting some salary would be wise. I brought this up in the other thread, if it comes down to exceptions being the only way you don't want to be in a spot where you can't use all of your MLE in back to back years because it would push you into any of these apron things.

I still think the way is to find a legit 2nd option that can sometimes carry the load so that Fox isn't the only thing keeping you afloat talent wise when the arms races of the playoffs get underway.

True, but they probably wouldn't hurt (outside of Kuz but the payoff could be bigger) and could actually help spell a transition into a new phase as a team. You DO NOT overpay for those types though. Talent wise Kuzma is the brightest on that list but as discussed has a lot of pitfalls in his game. It sucks that LaVine is out because it just felt like the easy gamble and answer for both the Bulls and Kings was a Huerter/Barnes for LaVine deal. Bulls get better fit guys and the Kings take the shot. If the Bulls rumored asking price for LaVine was legit then good luck Bulls fans. You might have a rough couple of years heading your way. If they want a preview the Ron Artest/John Salmons/Kevin Martin era of the Kings could be your future.

He will be aggressive, he’s proven that but it doesn’t have to be tomorrow. It might be, but it’s not the end if it doesn’t happen. When we turn over a new league year we will have access to 4 first round picks plus swaps. Plenty of Ammo. Realistically the only additions that would realistically play would be a point guard like Wright, a back up center like Kelly O or an upgrade at the starting 2 or 4. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be Kuzma or Grant or DFS. So unless he swings for Caruso I think we are likely just going to see one small move or none at all. Or maybe he shocks us and something comes out of left field.

I still believe Barnes + Mitchell for Robinson/Jovic you improve the floor spacing and will have the best passing PF/C tandem in the L. The Heat get a small ball 4 who can score (Spo LOVES small ball 4's) and a back up PG they need. The Kings also improve their ceiling with Murray/Jovic at the wings/4 both can grow in the next 2-3 years while Sabonis/Fox will be enterinng there primes.

It’s interesting but I’d have to think Miami would be thinking bigger. Their window with Jimmy is likely starting to close and I think last year was an incredible run that is not likely to be repeated.

They don't really have anything unless they move Herro which they are seemingly unwilling to do, they just blew a 1rp for Rozier who other than one game has been trash adding Barnes helps balance the line up and gives them two small PF's with him and Martin. Barnes gives them a solid player with experience Spo can trust. Mitchell is a Miami type guy as well. Miami can only make minor /consolidating moves unless they move Herro or Bam (nearly zero chance) even with Herro they can't really get a Lauri type player which they need.

According to Wojnarowski (via the Woj Pod), the Mavericks‘ efforts to pry Kyle Kuzma away from the Wizards haven’t been successful, so Dallas is believed to be pivoting to P.J. Washington and will likely keep talking to the Hornets on Thursday. Stein suggests that Kuzma’s preference has been to stay in D.C. rather than seek a change of scenery, which has been a factor in Washington’s apparent reluctance to move him.

According to a Greek site that posts articles the whole time regarding Sasha based on sites dealing with the NBA, Kings are willing to give Sasha, Davion and a top10 protected 1st round pick to Charlotte for PJ Washington. Their source is Hoopshype but there is no direct link, and I can't find something in their site, I see PJ Washington mentioned for Mavs only.

Will cross all my fingers not to happen ...

Chavano was traded again.

The Indiana Pacers are trading Buddy Hield to the 76ers for Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

But they spent 1 FRP for him, weird move that makes me wonder which stage are they at now.
Maybe it was for Ochai and the ability to turn around and flip KO for something else. Raps are looking for draft capital beyond 2024 so makes sense they would move on from one of the picks

KO is Canadian, so maybe they are planning to resign him?
