Kawhi Leonard with his second DPOY award. That draft is still the most bitter one for me. The year we badly needed an SF, instead of drafting a young prospect we took Jimmer and traded for Salmons.

Sigh...

well deserved for Kawhi. He is a menace on the defensive end. These first round match ups are becoming unwatchable for the most part with Avery Bradley out for the season, Dallas vs OKC, Houston vs GSW & Memphis vs SAS are all series I won't be watching any longer, I'll stick with the Eastern Conference match ups and watch how the Clippers play with Blake back.

Leicester City won the Premier League Title. This is an amazing accomplishment.. their odds were terrible to even begin with. Best comparison is the Sixers' D-League team winning the NBA finals... even that, is an undersell of what Leicester(pronounced lester) City has accomplished.

This gives me hope for the Kings!

In general I hold no animosity for the basketball fans in Seattle, but Chris Hansen is a different matter... so here is a bit of schadenfreude for the week:

http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/nba/seattle-city-council-kills-sale-of-street-for-sodo-arena/

So much for the whole Hansen gets things done argument.
I didn't read the whole thing. It appears the fans had an impact on the vote by being nasty to the female voters. I pretty much stopped there as it struck me that as in Sacramento, the Seattle fans had a big impact ,,,,,, in opposite directions. I feel sorry for the Seattle fans. Thank goodness for everyone that busted their butts keeping the Kings here.

Scott Skiles the latest coach to enter unemployment. This offseason already one for the books.

Interested to see what direction the Magic go

wow can't believe Magic fired Skiles after only one season. It seems where ever he coaches he rubs players and/or front office the wrong way huh?

Orlando has lots of young talent, but they have no clue where anyone fits. They need to just build around Fournier-Vucevic and get rid of Payton/Dipo all together.

They didn't fire him actually, he released a statement that he decided it wasn't the right situation for him and therefore he was going to resign. Interesting turn of events. They look like an up and coming team, I suspect it's more of a behind the scenes thing which led to this. We'll see if Scott Skiles ends up with another team next season or takes some time off instead.

i thought it was a strange hire to begin with. scott skiles is decidedly a veteran's coach, and the roster he stepped into was decidedly not veteran in its make-up. skiles has never really shown a knack for developing a young team into a winner, and while his teams always play hard and compete on the defensive end, he's also rarely pushed those teams to an elite level. this could be quite the blessing-in-disguise for the magic if they act quickly to get frank vogel in the door for interview. they've made it clear that they want to establish a strong defensive identity, which was the intention when they hired skiles in the first place. vogel would be a much better fit for the magic's young talent...

Yeah I agree about Vogel to Orlando, seems like a good fit. And maybe even Scott Skiles to Indiana. I thought when Orlando traded for Jennings and Ilyasova (both of whom Skiles coached in Milwaukee) that was a move aimed at getting him some veteran leaders who were familiar with his system. I think the front office was pushing him to play Elfrid Payton more and Skiles didn't think he was ready. They have some nice players but a lot of positional redundancy too.

if that's the case, it certainly sounds like scott skiles, and it certainly sounds like he made a mistake in taking that job in the first place. there was always going to be a mandate from management to play and develop the team's young talent, though i agree, their roster is very unbalanced and kind of confusing, with redundancies that wouldn't make any coach's job easier...

Maybe Skiles decided that coaching a young team gave him way too many headaches and he would rather coach a more veteran team. Pure speculation of course.

Per Woj, the Pacers are hiring (promoting) Nate McMillan to head coach.

I can't image Pacers fans are too happy about that.

who would of thought that Vogel would still be on the market? He should go to Orlando and coach that young team up, it's a good long term investment for both parties IMO.

You called it! Frank Vogel is the next coach of the Orlando Magic.

it certainly seemed like the most logical outcome. i think vogel's gonna have a lotta fun coaching guys like payton and oladipo. man, everybody in orlando--from the magic brass to the fans--has to be thanking their lucky stars that scott skiles decided to bail after just one season. while his rosters always play hard, he drops the ceiling for just about every team he coaches. vogel, on the other hand, stands a chance to elevate orlando's mismatched roster, and it certainly helps their prospects to improve the team in free agency, given that frank vogel is a player's coach through-and-through, and very few players have ever actually wanted to play for scott skiles...

Vogel to Orlando was looking more of a possibility than a pipe dream after Skiles left and Vogel was available for the last two weeks. Great hire for them, he is a great fit for them IMO. Orlando has been patient with their youth movement and that's what you need, Vogel will provide stability now.
