Please let the Pelicans hold on to the 8th seed. With us being sorry yet again, I want to live vicariously through Tyreke Evans and Anthony Davis.
As long as it's not OKC I don't care although I would prefer if the Suns made it, ever since they traded away IT they have become my go to team to watch with the Kings stinking the joint up. I just cannot stomach the majority of OKC's players they are a team full of scumbags.

The Jazz will be a contending team next year...bank on it. Rudy Gobert is amazing. Every draft, we wonder how certain guys get drafted so low.. he's the reason why teams will continue to gamble on European prospects. Gobert was drafted 27th overall.

They will most likely trade one of their guards. Team is packed full of guards who love to handle the ball.. Hayward, Burks, Exum, and Burke. Don't be surprised to see Burke or Burks traded this off season.

On the other hand, Exum is still really raw.. To be honest, Nik's handles aren't far off of Exum's. I don't think he's a PG. Not a good ball handler as a pg, doesn't have PG vision, and he struggles to create. His 3pt shooting is coming along, however teams are just leaving him at the 3pt line because they know he's not a great shooter. Problem with that is once defenders will actually start closing in, he'll miss a lot. Very very slow release and shot set. I don't think he's a PG for at least another a year or 2
Yeap Jazz are going to be good (Hayward/Gobert/Favors is a sweet trio) also if the Timberwolves can EVER remain healthy I think they are a decent squad as well. I wonder how Denver feels trading Gobert for Eric Green.

So Anthony Davis stepped on Asik's foot in shootaround and is out injured? This guy seems pretty fragile. Every few weeks he goes out with yet another injury.

And damnit, NO needed this game.

The way he goes up and comes down for lobs running at full speed I'm not surprised

if the lakers are currently in the same spot record wise and 2 teams leap frog them.. their pick goes to phoenix??

nbadraft.net
Suns receive the Lakers 2015 first-round pick. (top 5 in 2015, top 3 in 2016 and 2017, unprotected 2018. ()

nope, the pick got traded in the Brandon Knight debacle. currently resides in Philly, but yes, they do get it, if it falls outside of the top5.

wow, what a coup for philly if they do fall out of the top 5
rolls over into a top3 protected pick in 2016, too. so unless the Lakers can really strengthen their team through free agency, it's going to be a lottery pick again. also, keep in mind that the pick was part of the package (among another first rounder and 2 second rounders) that brought them, like, half a season of Steve Nash and a whole lot of capspace wasted. pretty terrible trade, all things considered.

A question more than a comment. Can an NBA team buy a player's contract from another team? In a trade, can one team trade a 10million dollar player to another team for a 5 million dollar player and cash?

Cash can be included in trades, but there is an annual limit to how much. Next year that limit will be $3.4M, which is the total outgoing cash that a team may give out in a year - whether it's in one trade or stretched across several.

However, the cash does not offset the salary cap implications of the trade, so those teams would have to legally be allowed to make the $10M player for $5M player trade without the cash in order to make the trade work.

Thanks, Capt. I take, then, that you can't buy a player even if the contract is less than than the $3.4 million. No buying a contract.
Well...I think the question is a bit ambiguous. So let me try to clear it up. It IS legal to trade a player for cash. However, the team receiving the player would have to be able to absorb the contract under the cap - sending the cash does not offset the value of the contract for cap purposes. The general rule is that if you are over the salary cap at the completion of a trade, then you have to have sent out at least a certain percentage in contracts relative to the contracts you brought in. For deals where contracts total $10M or less this value is about 2/3.

If a team is, say, $5M under the cap, they could trade cash to get a $3M player, and that would seem to qualify as "buying the contract". But technically, it is not. It's a trade, and it follows normal trade rules with regard to the salary cap.

Wow the Bucks pull out the most unlikely win vs Miami with a Middleton DAGGER with time expiring (after shooting 4/16) after Jared Bayless killed Beasley on a jump ball with the Bucks down 2. It was a insanely hard shot crazy comeback by the scrappy Bucks.

Also in that game Hassan Whiteside cut his hand dunking.

if I were Sam Presti, I'd start poisoning Russell Westbrook's pre-game meals. they really can't afford to make the playoffs anymore.

I think OKC is a lost cause now.. It sucks though because people believe Westbrook is the MVP. I think that title goes to Curry this year. Curry doesn't have to take 21shots a game nor handle the ball all game. I imagine if he did, he'd probably put up better numbers than Westbrook right now.

Curry is the best PG in the NBA right now and it's not even close

Define "lost cause." Oklahoma City has the easiest remaining schedule of the three teams still in contention for the eighth seed.
I meant for the playoffs. They're not going to beat the warriors without KD. I think it may either end up as a close series, or a blow out. However, their GM has done a magnificent job at assembling a roster. Just don't think they'll make it very far without KD. With a roster like that +KD Id take them in game 6 vs the Warriors

Yahoo is reporting that Hot Rod Hundley has passed away.
I spent my early adulthood listening to him call Jazz games. He was a class act, and a man who loved the game.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

Trevor Booker reply to Enes Kanter long comments about Jazz: "He did, what he always does: he goes for his stats, he didn't defend, and he took L"
