Game 58
Sacramento Kings at San Antonio Spurs
By Stephen Tetsu, On time as of late

Ouch.

We now return to your regularly scheduled programming...

Well that was certainly something. I'm not really sure if beating the worst team in the league by 38 points can ever really qualify as basketball but at the very least it was much better than that overtime horror show we faced in the dark dark days of the Corbin era.

Of course, it's not hard to feel good about a win but feeling good about a beatdown of a team featuring such stars as Tim Hardaway's taller but not as good son and Cleanthony Early is the basketball equivalent of patting yourself on the back after winning a boxing match with a mental disabled child in a wheelchair.

Then you remember that the Knicks are being led by Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher and the relentless smackdown feels alright again.

The View From the Other Side
Today's view come courtesy of sad, sad Knicks fans.

    Alright, young Knicks.
You don’t need to win if you don’t want to, but at least make it interesting.
  • 3:05
Kings are probably the distant second or third team I kinda like
The other is the Wolves. What can I say, I love teams that **** up consistently.
  • 3:10
    I only like 1 team
    The Knicks

    It kind of sucks
  • 3:36
This would have been legitimately winnable without Cousins
  • 3:51
If DMC isn't playing then there is very little reason for anyone to watch this
  • 3:57
Glad Karl is back in the NBA
now I don’t have to listen to him analyze basketball anymore
  • 4:10
    Bargs vs Cousins
The matchup I’ve been waiting for all my life
  • 4:10
    Cousins is a Beast
Despite his personality quirks, he’s the type the Knicks need.
  • 4:19
yo wtf Cousin hittin 3 pointers now?
  • 4:22
George Karl ain't passing Phil this year
    Take THAT
  • 4:24
Back in the (recent) day we would simply bury a team like this with outside shots, or die trying
Wish we at least had the option to do that now
  • 4:26
We now have Jason Smith bringing the ball up
    Triangle magic
  • 4:40
    Don't want Cousins anymore.
    He’s a flopper.
  • 4:50
Bargs is still Bargs on that rim protection
  • 4:51
This already looks like a blowout
  • 4:57
    Goddamn
    This is a pooper dooper
  • 4:57
    I mean like
The triangle doesn’t look that bad, it’s just that a bunch of D-Leaguers are running it.
  • 4:58
Does anyone else get annoyed whenever commentators feel the need to explain the Rockets' offensive philosophy ad nauseam?
"HEY GUY DID YA KNOW THAT THE ROCKETS PREFER TO SHOOT THREES AND TAKE LAYUPS INSTEAD OF MIDRANGE JUMPERS???? EVEN THOUGHTHIS HAS BEEN THEIR SCHTICK FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS LETS EXPLAIN IT FOR THE 8,346TH TIME OK?"
  • 4:59
Every single person in the Garden took a Benadryl before this game
    I’m convinced. Players, fans all.
  • 5:04
Lol the only reason Acy's hustling is because this is his old team
  • 5:07
Now I know for a fact the Kings don't play defense this well
Taking advantage of the Knicks being limited off the dribble and the triangle not being run effectively
  • 5:16
Tom Hanks is no one's favorite actor
  • 5:39
We really need to see what we got with the 32-year-old 8-year journeyman Amundson
  • 5:41
    Is George Karl healthy again?
  • 5:41
Karl with the almost sneaky nose pick
  • 5:43
    Bruh
You’ve got like twice our score. You don’t get to complain.
  • 5:45
The tank is strong with this one
  • 5:46
One day we will have a team that won't let us get embarassed like this on the home floor
  • 5:47
Tank or no tank, this is pretty embarassing
  • 5:48
Someone needs to tell Mike Breen and Walt Clyde
that the Knicks have the worst record in the entire league. This outcome is not all that surprising.
  • 5:50
    Boring
This game is bad enough without showing boring ass george karl
  • 5:52
Haha that ref gave Cousins the "chile, please" finger
  • 5:56
    BS
I still think the Knicks were hoping for the playoffs when the season started
  • 6:02
I want the Knicks to scare the Kings enough to bring Boogie back off the bench
    That’s all I want
  • 6:07
Only a month and a half until the season is done!!
  • 6:30
    Wow. Wow.
    Wow……
  • 6:30
Acy isn't even remotely resembling an NBA player right now
  • 6:36
    *Looks at the final score*
At least we didn’t lose by 40
  • 6:37
There's a Marcus Thornton in college
    spooky
  • 6:37
Marcus Thornton in the NBA is fat and balding now.
  • 7:08
    So.....
I think it’s right about time we try to find new players to fill out that final roster spot
  • 7:41
I learned 0 things about guys on our team tonight
Looks like the tank is back in working order though

This is pay-back time. Big Cuz will play in this one and the Spurs will have no way of stopping him. Kings win by 7.

Looking forward to this one as its the Boogie/Karl combo's 2nd real test together against a good team. Winning would be sweet, but I want to see the same energy and focus we brought vs SA and Portland, only this time we get our top 15 players back.

Lol I loved the comment bout Cuz complaining when we were up 40. Was thinking the same thing myself.
I'm not sure but that may have been about George Karl. I remember one incident over a call/non-call (I don't even remember that's how unimportant it was) where Karl got pretty animated with a ref over something that wasn't super blatant, and I was thinking, "You know George, save that technical."

What are the odds the spurs turn it up another level again in the playoffs? Also they have to max K. Leonard right otherwise someone else will.

Glad the guys got some rest last night. Would like to see Stauskas get some burn out there to see if he can keep his confidence going. Hopefully when Gay is out there so Kawhi doesn't guard him.

Not expecting a win, but expecting a good game.

The Spurs are looking mortal, but they are still The Spurs.
Underestimate a Popovich team at your peril. I still would rather play Blazers, Rockets, Clippers, or Mavericks in the postseason than the Spurs.

I think the Kings squeak out a win here. McCallum is guarding a gimpy Tony Parker. I wouldn't be shocked to see McCallum win the individual matchup there.

My crystal ball predicts a 22 point victory tonight vs the river walk beasts! King DeMarcus of the Valley and Lord Gay of ye old Fair Oaks shall perform acts of wizardry tonight vs the black and silver beast!

REJOICE IN VICTORY KINGS FAITHFUL!

Cousins was back and all was well for the Kings,
Next up are the Spurs, a team with no lack of rings.
A squad of old men, this is no country for that.
Remember to keep Manu away from your bat.
Sacramento needs to run run as fast as they can.
But A victory in any way is enough for this fan.
The boogie monster is beastly and ready for war.
Are you ready to hear us roar?

Kings are going to be beat (tired). Traveling from NY to San Antonio? Yikes..
Why? Gain one hour on the flight from ET to CT and it's little over three hours NYC/San Antonio on plush team commercial aircraft specially fitted for very tall people. Yes, got into their hotel in SA about 3 AM but had room service breakfast at noon and then rest of afternoon for more sleep or whatever they wanted prior to first bus leaving for AT&T Center at about 3 PM, second around 4 PM. Game at 7:30 CST. NO EXCUSES!
