Rondo

Ainge overvalues all of this players in trades and expects a kings ransom in return, someone like Cousins...the only thing that would feasibly work is Ben and a bunch of cap space...and i'm not willing to give up an improving Ben for a malcontent who won't even resign here.

I don't think we'll have to worry about it much longer. From what Woj has said - and it seems like he's dialed in on this one - Mark Cuban is serious about getting Rondo. I suspect we'll hear the deal is done before much longer.

I'll be watching Dallas.

As far as Rondo for us, I'd have liked him but it made no sense with our current situation. There's no way he'd commit here without stability, and right now our future is completely up in the air. That's another downside to the recent events, we're less attractive to other players with our coaching situation.

That's all Rondo is worth? I feel like Dallas gave up nothing significant. Rondo, Ellis, Chandler, Dirk, Tyson C. One heck of a starting 5. Dallas just got even better.

As expected...Rondo wasn't going to get much, what Dallas offered really isn't that enticing. a late first round pick and a second round pick? yikes. They should of just traded him a year ago or sooner before he got a chance to hit the open market.

Dallas just took a huge leap imo. The key in the West is slowing the super guards out there; Curry, Westbrook, Paul, Conley, Parker, you can throw in Lillard too. With Rondo controlling the penetration and Chandler protecting the interior I would not be surprised at all to see Dallas make it out of the west. Shoot, they played the Spurs pretty damn tough last year without Chandler and Rondo. Should be interesting to see.

Well i didn't think they were going to take such bad value back. Wright is the only player worth a crap in that deal and that 1st rounder is sure as crap not going to be a lottery pick and is more likely going to be a very late pick, especially now. I already thought DAL was dangerous, but they have as good a chance to win it all as anyone. Very well balanced...Rondo pick and pop with Dirk, Rondo pick and roll with Chandler, Parsons to spread the floor...Ellis playing really well. That's about as good a starting 5 as you will find.

Rondo will absolutely kill playing pick&pop with Dirk and P&R with Chadler. If Dallas is on board, I'm sure Rondo's agent will ram it through as this would be a perfect situation for Rondo in a contract season. Monta might be upset though.
Well, this was obvious and it happened! By far superior destination among discussed, since P&P is much more productive for Rondo than P&R and now he gets to run it with the best bigman shooter in the league, but if Dirk is overplayed Chandler is an instant lob target, when his defender goes out to stop Rajon. Too bad for him Dallas didn't have salaries to keep Wright. Expect Rondo to average 11-12 assists per 36 minutes anyway.
P.S. Dallas seemed like a natural weak link, if Kings were somehow to sneak into POs. I guess, it's over for this season.

Rondos defense is mediocre at best. Okc, GS, Memphis, and spurs are still better

While I haven't watched much of Rondo this year, he has in the past been a very good defender. His length allows him to disrupt passing lanes and he generally can stay in front of his man. Now, post injury, you're right he could be mediocre, but he's still light years ahead of Jameer Nelson.

I know we're doing the whole X team is going to be amazing because they have all-stars A, B, and C but they just traded perhaps their best defender in Wright and one of their glue guys in Nelson for another high volume ball handler in Rondo.

Between Parsons and Monta, those are two dudes who already need the ball in their hands quite a bit. As does Dirk. Tyson should excel with Rondo at PG but he does that with any point guard not in New York or Chicago. As we've seen, Rondo is capable of being a fantastic distributor but that was three years ago as a young gun and before a slew of injuries.

They could be good, of course. But they could also wind up the 2012 Lakers.
