Isaiah Thomas watch

A couple more Kings performances like last night paired with a couple more performances from IT like this, and the poo is really going to hit the fan around here

Yeah, I'm sure IT is going to continue shooting 85%+ for the season. Even more annoying because apparently, we can just magically *whoosh* Landry, JT and Williams into him but surprisingly choose not to. What are we thinking?

On the bright side, I did enjoy our PG getting the ball to his teammates for the Kings tonight. Just a shame they were so clueless when they got it. Maybe they weren't used to it or something, I dunno.

Yea i personally loved what i saw from DC. He was able to somehow find a way to get 8 assists when the Kings shot 30% and only had 12 total assists. IT may have scored 20pts in a game like last nights, but he would have had 1 or 2 assists

23 pts 9/11 shooting Suns debut. We certainly couldn't use that with the same salary of Derrick Williams, Jason Thompson, Carl Landry.
It was a very nice outing by him and one I would have loved to see him have here coming off the bench. It should be noted that this was against the Lakers and the fact that he comes off the bench means he's playing against a second unit Lakers team for a large majority of his minutes. Not to take anything away from Thomas, but that's not the best measuring stick if you ask me.

This quip about how we could have used him having the same salary as Williams, Thompson, & Landry is just plain silly. I think you'll be hard pressed to find fans that wouldn't want Thomas over those contracts. He obviously has more value than those players, but just because he has more value than them, it doesn't mean he has positive value with his 7.5 mil contract. No point to take on a negative value contract just because you have worse contracts on your books. That's General Managing 101.

Maybe, Maybe not. We also severely lacked anyone who could put the ball in the hoop last night, Cuz's, 18 FTA's aside.

I really liked DC's play last night too, but we saw the very serious issue of where he's not a guy we can rely on for buckets when we need them most. Adding DC to IT at the PG spot would have been a fantastic upgrade for that position and made a ton of sense for the structure of the team. You can start DC, bring IT in for him, play him 28-32 MPG like Jamal Crawford and mix and match for the end of game scenarios. You're also not relying on Ben or Nik to be in at the end of the game.

While Sessions is a good player and can bring some of those IT elements, we also got a sneak peak at why he's been a guy who's bounced around the league. Terribly inconsistent, and when he's bad, he's BAD

Yep i would have loved to add DC and keep IT off the bench. It's too bad his ego would not allow that

How do we know that? He stated multiple times that he all he wanted was to be wanted for the way he plays his game. He very easily could have played like one of his heroes, Jamal Crawford off the bench and been a dynamite weapon.

We essentially just said "peace" and didn't want to deal with it. Bit of a slight on our FO and coaching staff too. Good coaches make talented players work together. We didn't want to deal with that.

He's also stated since being a sun that he wants to start for the Suns.

So there's that.

Ya I never come to this part of the forum. But ya. IT did score 23. we will miss him I think. The guy is talented.
I'm pretty sure nobody here questions Isaiah Thomas' credentials as a scorer. If he can continue to shoot 80% from the floor for the rest of the season though, I will freely admit that we made a huge mistake in not re-signing him. :D

Taken out of context in that interview.

So there's that too.
He's always wanted to start. He said it as a king, he's said it as a sun. Yeah, he also says he wants to do whatever helps the team. Yet, "all he wanted was to be wanted for the way he plays the game" is not true. He also wants to start. He'll want to start on any team he's ever on. I believe the exact quote was "They haven’t said anything. I want to start. But, whatever’s best for the team. We’ve got three of the best guards in the league."

Well at least the Kings didn't repeat Wednesdays performance. That paired with another 23pt night from IT would have brought out some interesting comments...

Anyway, i'll take 18pts 8ast 8reb and awesome defense on Damien Lillard over 23pts 4ast 2reb any day. Just sayin...

Different roles, we could have had Collison and IT, now that would be a deadly PG tandem. IT is playing the role we all saw him as, early front runner for 6th man of the year, he and Crawford will battle for it.

If we continue playing like we did last night, I won't mention IT again unless we play his team.

He did not want to play that role in Sacramento. He said it only 100 different times. It's also fairly clear he was not well liked by many of his teammates and the feeling was mutual. Nobody wanted to lose him the way we did but it wasn't a fit.
