Whether they have the toppp-end talent to match the Big Boys remains to be seen. But Monte has done a VERY nice job giving Brown a team that goes at least 10-deep with legit talent. And the very early returns are promising in re hustle and pace. That combination - rotational depth (we know he wants to play 10), hustle, and pace - should pay real dividends in the regular season. And those are elements that should be there every night, in a way that the great 3-pt shooting we're seeing tonight won't be.

We play both GS and Miami twice in our first 10 and then we get GS a third time in game #12 for some bizarre reason. So I guess what I'm saying is, if we don't completely faceplant out of the gate this year I'll be cautiously optimistic about our chances.

It pains me to say it as a USC guy, but I tend to agree. VF21 used to say that Francisco Garcia pissed in our cornflakes with all of his mistakes and Metu seems to have inherited that mantle.

Even if we don’t make the playoffs we have a competent and competitive squad. This could be the first team in a long time that isn’t a complete embarrassment most nights. I’ll keep my expectations low as I’m typically too optimistic but it feels good so far

I hope it turns out that way! I haven't been following that story very closely but I was assuming when he said he was stepping away for a bit that he'd still be back to start the regular season.

From the tone of it, unless the team/league decide to take any actions, he sounded like he's just gonna step away "for a few days".

It’s crazy to think 3 years ago baze averaged 10ppg for us and last year metu started 20 games for us. Now one may get cut and the other will get a lot of DNP

Keon and Neemi are both on 2-way contracts so they don't have to fight for a contract this season.

Of course, we have to make three cuts, and three guys didn't play tonight. I suppose that we'll have to see if that's a tell, or if the other three guys are going to get a shot in the next game. But I really don't think we're going to go into the season without a third-string PG, so I can't imagine both Delly and Cook getting cut.
