With Jackson and Papagiannis with Reno, JaKarr Sampson and Jack Cooley were at Kings practice today. Rumor is Cooley grabbed every single rebound in practice today.
--------------------------------------------------
I'm glad to see Sampson and Cooley back with the Kings. I think their energy and effort can be motivational for the Kings. At least I hope so. The kids need to see a couple of blue-collar worker types, who get out there and just do their freaking best every second they're on the court.

As I mentioned in another thread, George Hill may not be with the team for "personal reasons." This time, though, the personal reason is that his wife is expecting their child at any time. I have no problem with a player putting family first. Some things are definitely more important than a game.

The Kings need to pull themselves together and start showing the same effort every night, whether they're playing a contender or a basement dweller. There has to be consistency, good or bad. The "Who knows what Kings team we'll get tonight" stuff got old a long time ago.

They need to work hard and work on being the best they can be.

GO KINGS!!

I think the Kings are just about like everybody on this board and couldn't handle seeing soft as tissue paper play on the court. Let's see some Sampson and Cooley! At least those guys put a body on somebody!

And I'm sorry, but the Hill thing just makes me shake my head. His wife could go into labor "at any time" so he's going to be taking Saturday's game off??? What? How about if he takes the game off if she goes into actual labor? I get that. But now these guys are so incredibly soft they have to prepare for their wife's labor???!! Jezus. How many games has this guy played with serious purpose this year????!! Talk about being overpaid. At this rate, he's going to be getting $1 million for every game that he actually put his mind to. I've had enough. In the last game he played like excrement, absolute excrement. Is the imminent labor too much for him to bear? Please trade the guy. See ya Hill. Oh, and congrats on the kid.

I don't think we know if he's going to take Saturday off. The only thing reported thus far was that he was not at practice.

not a good match up for the Kings. Could potentially be another 20 point drubbing
Potentially? Nuggets ran the Kings off the court emphatically earlier, and the Kings are in a funk. Vegas has Nuggets favored by 4....I guess the bookies haven't been watching Kings games of late.

I'd be surprised if any team takes Hill with his bloated contract. The guy is the definition of mediocrity and overpaidness. And thats on Vlade-boy. Hill is laughing all the way to the bank....even after taxes he's making $100,000 per game conservatively or by playing time $3700 per minute.

That's pretty funny. There are plenty of teams that would like to have George Hill. None more than the Denver Nuggets IMO. Hill is a very good shooter and would score more if he had more open looks. If Hill wants out I would move him to Denver for a deal built around Trey Lyles and Denver's 2018 1st round pick. That said I am content if Hill plays out most of his contract and is traded close to the deadline in 2019.

Denver just traded the 13 overall pick for Lyles and the 24th pick. I would be surprised that after trading for him they would be so quick to move on from him, he's 22 and putting together a pretty good season.

I dont think George Hill has that kind of trade value

I don't bet anymore (2.5 years now yay)... because man you just never know. The Kings are due to rip somebody's head off here any day now. I'm gonna show up and watch... just in case.

I say give him a raise to $infinity per minute.

VF21 is on the right topic. "Cooley grabbed every rebound." Of course he did. Stick him in the lineup and wake up the Kings. They can compete with Denver.
When Kayte C is making comments about the Kings need to make some hard fouls, they have lost their way. There are plenty of women in the WNBA that play harder than the Kings. Just a fact.
Mental toughness is not optional if you want to win basketball games at any level. By the time players get the NBA everyone is big, strong and nasty. Rise to the occasion or dwell in the basement.

Joerger's flaw may be that he allows soft play and doesn't do anything about intensity in practice. Playing against Cooley and Sampson should raise the level of intensity. If Cooley got all the rebounds in practice, I would start him for one game and make a statement to the rest of the team. Your best rebounder should be a starter.

I dont have time or League Pass to watch all the teams all the time, but I know an overpaid player when I see one especially with the new Bargaining Agreement. 2.6 apg is poor for a starting PG - right now tied for 84th in the league. Yeah he's a decent shooter; so are alot of NBA players. Bogdan looks quite a bit better than Hill even in his initial campaign. $8million was about right for Hill and even at that rate may be overpaid for his inconsistency. How many great games has Hill had this year?.....3 or 4 (maybe)?

So he wants to prepare for his wife's labor by taking practice off! That's rich. Hey, potential fathers, when your wife is going to have a baby, just tell your boss that you need some extra time off to prepare prior to to birth, you know, for all the emotional distress. Of course, you will get paid during such time off, and no vacation time will be utilized. See how far that gets you!

I'm content if he's gone by this year's trade deadline. I haven't seen anything of value from him on the court and I haven't heard any effusive praise of him by the youngsters on how he is helping their games. I just don't see the point of him on the team.

It's an injustice that Sampson can't get onto this roster and be a regular member of this team. I would love to see a trade by this year's deadline that would allow him to do so. If you want a roster that sends the message that you reward toughness, then Sampson should be on that roster.

This has nothing to do with his play on the court or his fit with the team. We all have our opinions about that. I personally wouldn't mind getting something back for him.

That said, we know nothing in terms of what is going on with the baby's delivery. Are there complications? Or is going hunkyard-dory smooth? If it's the latter, man-up. If it's the former, I'm not going blame any man for wanting/needing to be with his wife. Or the wife needing him there.

There was one social media pic Bogi posted of him and Hill together... but I'm not sure I'm gonna believe that George Hill is raising Bogi's game.

If this dude was your employee you would be worried. His "days off for personal reasons" are off the chart. It's always something..

Yes, yes I would. If he was my employee and his behavior was abnormal for him, my response would depend on the details behind the change.

If a family member is dying I would hope I had compassion. If a family member is having medical complications especially a spouse or child, I would hope to have understanding.

We know the former was true we don't know about the latter AND we don't know if there is more that is not being said. That is not to say I wouldn't take what has happened into consideration going forward.

Sorry, I can't give the benefit of the doubt when I've seen so little evidence of commitment to this team during the year. This just seems to be another excuse and we've heard plenty of excuses from him. Even Ham called him out a game or so ago. He was looking far and wide for a Hill sighting.
