Gudaitis and Mitrovic (merged)

Talking about Kings youngster, I remind you we still have draft rights on Gudaitis and Mitrovic.
They weren't ready to join the league when we have the playoff target, but right now there's nothing to lose so maybe they can try to find a spot in the roster.
I love how Vlade is infatuated with european players.

MOD NOTE: I split this from the tank thread as I think it's worthy of a different discussion.

I'm curious. Are either Gudaitis or Mitrovic even worth looking at?

Mitrovic has no chance to make it into the NBA I think, Gudaitis could deserve a chance but he's a pure center so probably is better for him to stay another year in Europe.
Anyway, this summer could join the summer league team again and then let's see how he goes. He played an interesting Eurocup season (not Euroleague level of competition, but not bad at all) and some Euroleague teams are interested now.

After seeing both Gudaitis and Mitrovic play in SL(followed them in Europe), I don't think the Kings have enough roster spots for them. I don't think either guys are legitimate NBA players.

Gudaitis has pretty good Per 36 numbers in Eurocup, 19 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. But with Papagiannis, WCS and Koufas under contract there is no chance that we sign him to play in the G-League, we would not even have a roster spot for him in my opinion if we bring over Bogdanovic.

Talking about Mitrovic, I don't know anything about him. Forgot he was even last year playing for us in the summer league.

Saw both in summer league last year, and I didn't think either of them was ready to make the journey into the NBA just yet. Of the two, Gudaitis looked the best. I thought both looked a little on the heavy side and needed to trim down. Both looked a little slow compared to the other players on the floor. But Gudaitis was definitely the more skilled of the two. He might be a player to bring over and stick on our G-League team for a year, and see what pops out at the end. I doubt that Mitrovic will ever play in the NBA.

Remember, under the new CBA, we could add him to our Reno team and have him under contract, without him counting against the roster of the parent team. So basically we can now carry 17 players, with two on the Reno team. Of course if we call one up, we have to send one down. Just depends on who they want to use the extra roster spots on. More than likely, one will be used on our 2nd round pick this year. Who knows, maybe they'll use the other on Isaiah Cousins?

I'm a Red Star fan, so i watched Mitrović every game this year. Team had amazing season in Euroleague, but Mitrović was a disappointment (he is captain btw). Changed his shoot mechanic and he can't score anything from long range. Really hard for us fans to watch him shooting from long distance. No chance to play in the NBA.

Gudaitis is a solid rim protector, but for Eurocup or under-average Euroleague teams standards.... not for NBA.

Currently we have WCS, Koufos, Papagiannis at the center position. We've been tipped to draft Zach Collins (C out of Gonzaga) if we don't go for a PG or SF at ten. If we went down that road we have four centres that we would need to find minutes for. Even if we don't draft Collins at ten, that leaves three centers to find minutes for, so I doubt we'd really want to bring Gudatis over for the main roster unless he comes over for summer league and showcases ability worth keeping on the roster. I guess if we did bring him over and didn't draft a C at ten we could always trade Koufos, but I don't see us adding Gudatis to our regular season roster.

As for Mitrovic, I don't see him making it in the NBA, but I guess bringing him over for summer league to see what he has might be worth it, though I don't see him making the roster.

Was actually a fan of his going into that draft, he seems to have a nice blend of size skill and athleticism.

Looks like he could fill in as a backup C for many teams rather quickly. I'd be excited to have him on board.

He turns 24 tomorrow.

The Owner of his team made the news just the other day because he blamed their struggles/coach for allowing more than 2 black players on the squad...

His contract was only til the end of this year but there's some sort of option for 2017-2018, I'm guessing it's a player option.

I wonder what "interest" means. Can't imagine he's worth a 1st. Not sure about the purpose of flipping him for a second. Maybe a couple seconds might be worth it.

Maybe someone we're trading capspace for picks is looking for him as a toss in.

Gudaitis wasn't very good in Summer League last year....then again, neither was Papa and look where he's progressed.
Yeah SL isn't exactly the best indicator. Josh Selby absolutely tore it up in SL many years back. On the otherhand I do remember being discouraged by Trey Burke's initial SL stint, I didn't like him much coming out of college though so there was probably bias involved.

IDK... I cringed watching the tape.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh on the kid,
but besides his traveling tendency when posting up
(I'm shocked they never called any of those),
it seemed to me that he never raised his head to even LOOK FOR an open guy to feed outside....

It's like those ball-handling attempts in the low-post take so much effort and focus from him that he develops a tunnel-vision going towards the rim.

And in the NBA he'll find it VERY hard to get to the rim...
And his team-mates would almost ALWAYS be a better scoring option...
So I'd rather have him be a "pass-first big" ;),
which he's quite the opposite of...

Does that make sense?

Looks like he averaged an assist per game in just 19 minutes this season.. Also he might not be able to finish at the rim vs Rudy Gobert, but even superstars struggle with that. All playoffs long I saw flimsy rim protection, Gudatis seems to have enough explosion to get the job done.

Perhaps a decently high 2nd rounder?

Teams probably think he can give them some sort of backup minutes now, or can in the near-future, thats gotta be what interest means.

SL isn't the best indicator but you can see some things.....TRob's lack of game was glaring, Jimmer couldn't break pressure, Ben couldn't dribble, Papa had very little post game....the thing I remember on Gudaitis was he was a bit slow and unathletic. Doesn't mean he can't become something but he wasn't very good in SL.

I don't recall either player getting a real fair shake in SL. They weren't impressive in their minutes, but you can't take away the difficult position both were put in being so far back in the rotation.

He looked like a prop driven bomber playing against jet fighters in summer league. I was really looking forward to seeing him and was very disappointed. He looked like he needed to lose about 15 to 20 pounds. And who knows, maybe he has. I'm sure the Kings coaching staff told him what they needed from him in the future.

Yeah, they told him that he has no future in the NBA and that he is better off pursuing his career in Europe.

Any news on Arturas Gudaitis and/or Luka Mitrovic. We picked up the rights to both these guys in the Philly trade. Any news of late?

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – JULY 10, 2015 – The Philadelphia 76ers today announced they have acquired 21-year-old guard Nik Stauskas (STOUS-kiss), veteran forwards Carl Landry and Jason Thompson, a future first round pick, and the rights to swap first round picks in 2016 and 2017 from Sacramento in exchange for the rights to 2015 second round draft picks Arturas Gudaitis and Luka Mitrovic.

Mitrovic signed with Brose Bamberg few days ago. He will try to save his Euroleague career there, because "NBA ship" already sailed. I think he was NBA prospect calibar few years ago (he became captain of respectable Euroleague team with 21/22 years old), but then injuries happened...
