Kind of interesting...

"The Problem is Alvin Gentry"

"I agree idk why AD and cousins are parked out at the 3 point line like their Ray Allen every time down court"

"Why is Cousins shooting 3's routinely when AD is on the bench?"

"Boogie looked wore out running up and down the floor. The refs were a huge issue too. He was getting arm-barred and popped all game."

"DeMarcus does an amazing job sealing in the paint but we do nothing to take advantage of it. The right coach could really use this roster to punish the rest of the NBA, Gentry just isn't that guy."

"Mark Jackson"

"This we need to fire Gentry, and go to a Memphis style."

"AD & Boogie should be living on each low post block with wings attacking the lane."

"Cousins takes 9 shots .. and 5 of them were 3 pointer. Freaking embarrassing man."

"This team is a one BIG joke!
TERRIBLE GAME, terrible coaching, terrible reffs"

"These refs must have their whistles in someone else's pocket or something."

Malone was by far the best at using Cousins... POST UP IN PAINT....POST UP IN PAINT...POST UP IN PAINT.... the high post was as far as Cousins was allowed to drift...

now I'm not saying Cousins can't occasionally set a high screen and get kicked out to for a 3... but Cousins just lingers out there looking for 3's.. I keep hearing that Joerger was just afraid to make or incapable of making Cousins stay in the paint. Looks like Gentry is in the same boat. Its gonna take a Greg Pop kinda coach to make cousins get in line.

LOL! anyway this was funny ... same old stuff

You're incorrectly assuming that it's Cousins decision to stay out there. You must forget that it was George Karl that pushed Boogie out to the line in the 1st place. While it certainly has expanded his skill set, it's not like it was his idea or that he's been doing it his entire career. It's only been the past couple seasons and at a coaches discretion. The fact that he's still doing it means that it is by design. He's not freelancing out there.

And you know that how?

Ok well then Karl, gentry and Joerger are all terrible coaches...

A good number of these posts from the Pelican's board are exactly the type that what was predicted by members of this board.

They all blame Gentry. I would too. They don't have the personnel for the run and gun basketball he wants to play but dammit they're going to do it anyway.

Good coaches will coach to their players strengths. Look at what Harbaugh did in San Francisco. He helped form an offense around Alex Smith that played to his few strengths and avoided his many weaknesses. In one year they went from bad to a fumbled punt away from a Superbowl appearance. All due to coaching to the strength of the players. Not by having a formula that you force players to adhere to regardless of whether they can succeed with it or not.

Pelican fans were rejoicing last night when they went to Cousins every time down on the low block near the end of the game. He either made it, went to the free throw line or missed it, only to have AD come in and tip it home. If you go back and look at their comments, they're mad Cousins spends any time out near the three point line and they blame it all on Gentry.

This is why I'm so bummed we dealt Cuz. People keep saying "it never worked" but it could be argued(correctly) that the Kings never bothered to build the appropriate team and install the appropriate style to get the best out of having Boogie...and in the end the failure was pushed on Cousins thanks to guys like Napear when in reality it's like worrying about fast paced basketball for 8 years when your cornerstone is Shaq.

Any stable management with a vision of wins over style would have immediately went to work building a slow pace, half court, defensive minded team the minute Cousins fell into our laps on draft night. I thought this past offseason was actually a good one. Types like Garrett Temple, Matt Barnes, Anthony Tolliver, and Aaron Afflalo are ideal role players around a guy like Demarcus. Dave Joerger is an ideal coach. I thought it finally clicked what they needed to do but they wasted so much time that they felt they just as well start over.

New Orleans will continue to struggle until they embrace a slow paced style. They either dump Gentry or trade Cousins before next season.

Gentry is probably the worst coach in the NBA right now. He's been awful his entire coaching tenure besides one season with the Suns.

He's worse than George Karl and that's saying something.

Ain't gonna happen when vivek is watching GSW games and saw another shooter in this draft that is too good to pass up. I will wager that we will have at least 10 shooting/point guards next season. Klay/Steph auditions during draft workouts.
