Kings select for the 8th pick - Nik Stauskas

No 3pt'ers (lol) back at Iowa St when Jeff played. These stats are from his junior year (age 21), they brought players along slower then. Best comparable year to Stauskas.

I think the moves and reports that we have seen and seem to be moving in conflicting directions will fall in a pattern that will be moe logical to us all, just keep following the bouncing ball, the pattern will emerge. I believe there is a plan and I have a great deal of confidence in PDA and the FO. Patience.
And where exactly does your "great deal of confidence in PDA and our FO" come from?

I would rather the Kings have selected Payton and if they didn't like him, send him to Orlando for their 2014 pick and future first rounders like Philly got. Unless of course they really liked Stauskas and believed he wouldn't fall that far.

The pick was decent considering the Kings need shooting, and he's not your typical spot shooter as he can actually handle the ball well for someone labeled a "shooter."

I think everyone one on here fail to realize the NBA is not college. Look at the 2 guard position in the West... When he get's on the floor and feel the body of a grown then and only then will I give my opinion about this dude

Right. But it's fun to speculate. Why else would people be on here?

Why do you have a great deal of confidence in PDA?

pshn80 is entitled to his opinion. You guys are sounding like attorneys grilling a hostile witness.

For the record, I also have a lot of confidence in our front office and in PDA. I might be wrong, but I firmly believe there is simply not enough evidence to judge his performance quite yet.

I don't see a problem with asking that question. Maybe pshn80 knows something that I don't. If a GM does something that many are questioning and one person claims to have a lot of confidence in him then why wouldn't I ask that? If you don't count our signing of Mbah this FO hasn't made a single move to address our defensive needs. So then, why would one have alot of confidence in our GM?

Ranadive, experience, knows the people and has for a long time, knows the rules, the elements of the business in all it's aspects, has good, experienced basketball advisors and knows it himself, smarter than hell, communicates well, is committed, has a great boss and the backing he needs - what's not to like? Tell me why I shouldn't be confident. Is it Landry? Is it Gay? Is it Mah a Boute? Is it Vasquez? is it McLemore? Any of the others? I have no problem with these transactions. Most worked or are working, some not so well. That's the game. Priorities? His and yours and mine might not always match but I really believe he knows what he's doing and he has plans. I say plans because as you know in this business you better be flexible. So I am quite confident in his reign. I hope he hits more thn he misses.

Yeah, Horny was another guy I was considering for a possible comparison...but less of a driver, more of a midrange shooter. Also a tough defender actually, although did not look it.

I'm excited about his offensive ability. It's the defense that I'm not looking forward to. All I can hope is that his IQ will alow him to evolve into an average defender. Steph Curry did it....?

Barry had insane IQ/passing is Nik playmaking really at that level? Brent was a PG a lot of the time in his days at the Sonics.
I don't know, I think he might, its why I've been trying to pluck these names. Summer League will be interesting. Could see him tearing it up there, and since nobody is playing defense anyway, the fact he can't won't be much of an issue. :)

Yeah, I think Nik's a better athlete than people think with the whole white boys can't jump stuff. But Brent Barry...now that was a white boy who COULD jump. Like out of the gym. :p
Yeah, Nik is no Brent Barry. He pulls off some pretty sick dunks in warmups and practice but has never done anything crazy in games. But he really can get up. He's dunked over people on quite a few occasions. Don't think he can get up as high as Brent, though.

I find it pretty funny that Nik keeps getting compared to white role players.
People don't want to get their hopes too high before the kid even steps foot in Sacramento (sometime close to midnight tonight at the US Airway - terminal A, BTW). After the plague of JImmermania that hit here, I'd rather see us underestimate our new rookie and be pleasantly surprised than buy into the hype of rabid fans and be terribly disappointed. You know?

I agree. I just think it's funny that the comparison goes to the white role player. I'm still waiting to see the Kyle Korver and JJ Reddick comps. I'm a fan of the Detroit Lions, so trust me, I know all about keeping expectations low and still being disappointed.

I think Korver might have already been mentioned at some point last night. ;)
