I think the Kings made the only decision they could make all things considered. It's really easy in hindsight to second guess Petrie.

You also have to consider that Wallace's role in Charlotte is MUCH different. He's a lot higher up the food chain there than he ever would have been here.
That's one of the reasons why I wonder why the Kings drafted him at all. Even if his game would've become more refined in the chances he was given with the Kings, it would've been difficult for him to crack the starting rotation since he's more naturally a SF than a SG. Of course, I can see the reasoning behind not passing a guy like that up at that position in the draft.

Going to Charlotte in the expansion draft is probably the best thing to this point to happen to Gerald's career, and in all reality, at what point was he going to overtake Peja as the starting SF. Sure, if the Kings had him right now they may not be as worried about Peja's looming expiring contract, but I doubt he'd be getting many opportunities to play the minutes that would allow him to turn in 26 pts, 14 rebound games.

IMO opinion the organization soured on Wallace after the Christmas day Dallas game where he took himself out of the game with "impending leg cramps." I also recall inferences that he simply was not working on this game the way the team wanted him to.

Whatever the reason he seems to be headed in the right direction now. I do agree at this point he may be the one guy that blows up and leaves that sick "what if" feeling.

SIDE NOTE-Damn, I was looking back at that draft and realize that Gilbert Arenas was not drafted until the second round! Of course, the Warriors let him get away. Also, Okur was drafted with the 38th pick. Dalembert and Tony Parker were drafted after Wallace.

yeah and if peja walks and we resign bonzi that would really sucked.... or if they had kept him i doubt that we'd have bonzi at all... but we'd still have bobby jackson.... hell..... doug wouldnt have been traded either if we still had wallace..... the way this team was setup wallace really didnt need to have a sg skill set since he wouldnt have been handling the ball that often....

... and if a meterorite struck the practice facility and took out the team, or if aliens abduct Bibby, or if we went bake in time and got Wilt's DNA or killed Bob Horry's Mother before he was born... geez I think I'll just turn on the Sci Fi chanel and watch something senseble.

I just thought you should know that if you EVER use obscene words like those on a Kings board again I will be obliged to ban you.

Wow! Congrats to Gerald! Good for him! I hated to see him go, but I'm glad to see he's doing well!

Congrats to Bonzi for his "honorable mention" - I really like how he is playing!

That's great for Wallace, he deserves it.

Really cool to read Bonzi as a nominee there... good to see he's getting some kind of recognition.
