    Girls v. Knicks 02/02/2013

Just a few more months of this folks. One way or the other.

    Grats to Boogie for trying.

I have offered a girls...and I guess boys only thread to the rest of the Consortium. We'll see how they feel. Anyway, there are no words. We were up 18-6. Then the Knicks launched into a 38-4 run. You're not misreading that. The lead reached 47 at one point (edit -- I stand corrected: turns out it was 50). This got utterly humiliating in a hurry. Especially for those of us local.

    Good for a laugh:
    Boxscore

    Stats: 25min 3pts (1-5, 1-2, 0-0) 0reb 1ast 0stl 0blk 3TO
Salmons ( F ) -- he hit a spot three in the mid first for the first and only good thing he did all ngiht. But he was dead out there. And as things began to fall apart forced up a dumb jumper to help our demise. The offense completely staganted in the early 2nd with him at point as we tried to protect Jimmer, and he threw up a bad looking three, and then turned it over trying to back the Knicks in. As the rout was on somehow it turned into the John Salmosn takes all the shots offense. Meanwhile the Knicks went on a 38-4 run. 38. To 4. Note that the first Kings coach in the Sacrmaneto era, Phil Johnson, got fired in his second season after the Los Angeles Lakers came out and blew those original Kings out 36-4 in the first quarter. Those would be the Magic/Kareem/Worthy/Riles Lakers. These Knicks ain't. I see no point in discussing the few minutes he played after half. I was half checked out by that point. Salmons entirely so. --Brick

Françoise Boufhal -- per Slim. A subtle theme seems to link his choices.

Danny DeVito -- I'll try the pic of each thing this one time. But I don't know they mix right next to each other, the software only allows for 5 pics per post, meaning the grades just got 6 posts long, and frankly I am almost out of guys deemed "hot" in a way I understand. Other than just random male models of course. I am already resorting to pulling up other people's lists, and half of the names/pics on them leave me with a 'you've got to be kidding me" reaction.

    Stats: 23min 0pts (0-3, 0-3, 0-0) 1reb 0ast 0stl 0blk 1TO
Garcia ( F ) -- I'm not going to waste my time on Cisco. 22 minutes, and 0 points. Thats two nights in a row folks! Are you kidding me? By the way, who was playing PF when the game started, Cisco, or Slamons? Just curious? But two nights in a row, and no points? Somethings very wrong in river city folks. I'm going to leave it at that. Sorry, but I need to go get a strong drink. --Baja

    Katherine McPhee

Ryan Kwanten -- this for instance was the #1 ranked male on one list I am working off of. Props for the shot though.

    Girls v. Knicks 02/02/2013

    Stats: 33min 25pts (10-14, 0-1, 5-5) 9reb 1ast 1stl 0blk 3TO
Cousins ( B ) -- not gonna do it. as in me. Not gonna do a full Cuz worthy writeup. Barely took notes after half, and I am NOT going to go back and rewatch that. Suffice it to say that in the early going Cuz and Reke, who was struggling but still talented early, teamed up to give us that 18-6 early lead almost by themselves despite no support at all from Cisco, Salmons and IT. Cuz got off to the immediate strong start with a strong post move around Chandler, then hopping in the passing lane for a steal and eventual layup on the break from Reke. Lot of rebounds, follows, and was hitting his open jumpers. By the end of the half as the debacle got really gross had lost all his own momentum as well, airballed a jumper, was getting beat by Amare's quickness. But to his credit, and nobody else's, while Reke disappeared and the rest of the team just turned into a bad joke, Cuz kept on fighting. Down 30, down 40. He kept on fighting. Kept on scoring inside. Piling up points, and hey, garbagetime on a lot of them, but this wasn't a garbagetime effort. It was one guy going out there, refusing to give up, and doing his job from start to finish. It was the Big Cuz equivalent to what Reke did the night before in Philly. Be the rock. Keep playing hard even when everything is going to ****. There is no possibility of an A in this sort of game, but Cuz is the only King who could walk out of that building with his head held high.--Brick

    Stephanie Honore

    Adam Garcia

    Stats: 32min 7pts (3-10, 0-1, 1-2) 4reb 4ast 1stl 1blk 3TO
Evans ( D-) -- Just when we thought it was safe to go back into the water, we get eaten by sharks, or knicks. 7 pts in 31 minutes just isn't going to cut it. Ironicly, it looked like Tyreke was going to pick up where he left off the night before. After missing a tough layup, he then made a bid for the ESPN highlight reel with a terrific up and under move. But unfortunately, that was the highlight of the game for him, as everything went south from that moment on. I lost track of how many layups he missed, some of the point blank. These were shots he makes in his sleep. I'm not going to bore you with all the details. On a night when Cousins showed up, Tyreke was absent. Too bad, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference anyway. --Baja

    Girls v. Knicks 02/02/2013

    Stats: 36min 8pts (3-13, 2-7, 0-0) 4reb 6ast 1stl 0blk 1TO
Thomas ( D- ) -- was little factor as it was mostly Reke and Cousins early while we were still playing, but did manage to poke a ball away from behind on JKidd when they tried to post him up, and got an early off the ball hoop cutting through the lane and surprising the Knicks as Reke hit him for the layup. Then it all turned to crap. There was a long stretch of doing nothing until he finally hit a spot up three in the final minute of the half, which was immediately followed by him gunning up a dumb followup three attemtp off hsi dribble a few seconds later. Blew the layup from Cuz to start the third, forced something realy ugly, and was off contributing to the debacle in his own special way jsut being incredibly selfish and trying to be the 5'9" Jordan and bring us back from 30 down all by himself. Eventually he would hit another three, but in general he missed and missed again from out there. Got to run the entire 4th as musical PGs continues, Brooks did not play, Jimmer is now a SG, not sure where Honeycutt was. Anyway...this sucked and "contributed" to our result. --Brick

    Annabelle Wallis

Matthew Gray Gubler -- per Prophetess. FINALLY a fem steps up rather than the ridiculousness of having a straight guy trying to figure out who's hot or not and presenting them to women. Also, since toplessness is now in, I will start presenting the women that way too.

    Bench

    Stats: 16min 4pts (2-4, 0-0, 0-0) 4reb 0ast 1stl 0blk 1TO
Thompson ( INC ) -- JT didn't start the game due to the Knicks going small with Carmelo at the 4. After those few good minutes for the Kings (which JT missed out on) the Knicks went on a 38-4 run and the game was over, over, over. Part of that run included four minutes of JT who had two nice stops on help D but did allow Amare to blow by him once and missed his only shot. JT didn't come back into the game until the fourth, which was 12 minutes of garbage time. JT didn't even do anything for the first 5 minutes of the quarter. Thompson ended up with 4 points and 3 rebounds in garbage time, but I'm not going to give him a grade based on that. --Capt.

Oh In Hye -- and a dress that I think is more famous than she is. She's in it...well mostly...in about 90% of the pictures of her out there.

Thomas Gibson -- per Prophetess again. Hey I said A fem stepped up, not the gender as a whole.

Well, the Superbowl is upon those of us in the state (for those of you elsewhere to grasp the ridiculous hype/spectacle, imagine a single game of that funny little sport where you kick around the ball with your foot, if it were actually popular). And so I am not going to waste any more material on a lost game and a lost thread that nobody may read anyway. Here are the rest of the grades, such as they are. Catch you next time:

    Stats: 23min 14pts (6-8, 2-3, 0-0) 2reb 1ast 0stl 0blk 2TO
Fredette ( C- ) -- Yeah, I know, how can I give Jimmer a C- on a night like this. Well, to be honest, he played well in the 23 minutes he was in the game. Or should I say, he played well in the second half when the game was totally out of reach. However, he could have come in and just stunk up the place in garbage time like Outlaw did. But he didn't! He played hard like the game was on the line, as did T. Robb, and I can't in good concience penalize them for doing well in garbage time. As it is, I did downgrade Jimmer because it was garbage time. If he had put up these numbers when the game mattered, I would have given him a B. There's no doubt its easier to hit shots when your way ahead or way behind. At the same time, he did score 14 pts on 6 of 8 shooting. Along with T. Robb and Cousins, he was one of the few bright spots tonight lost in the darkness. --Baja

    Stats: 8min 3pts (1-5, 1-3, 0-0) 1reb 0ast 1stl 0blk 1TO
Thornton ( F ) -- I really wanted to give Marcus an INC. And maybe thats what he deserved. He only played 8 minutes in the entire game. And those 8 minutes are not very memorable, or they're memories we want to forget. As a matter of fact, I could probably say that he didn't play in the game, and quite a few folks out there wouldn't contend that statement. He had one lone basket for 3 pts, and that was it. The rest of his 8 minutes, he was either throwing up wild shots, throwing nice passes to the opposition, or traveling with the ball. Other than that, it was a perfect nignt. --Baja

    Stats: 3min 0pts (0-0, 0-0, 0-0) 0reb 0ast 1stl 0blk 1TO
Hayes ( INC ) -- layed 3 minutes to spell Cousins in second quarter. Did a decent job, forcing Amare into a travel in the post and getting a steal in the passing lane, but had no place when Knicks went super small (had to pick up Prigioni resulting in an easy 3) and came right out. Didn't play enough to get a grade. --Capt.

    Stats: 26min 11pts (4-8, 0-0, 3-4) 4reb 0ast 1stl 1blk 2TO
Robinson ( C- ) -- Came in to a debacle and immediately gave up an easy 3 to Novak by playing in the lane when Novak was in the corner. Apparently got the memo after that because he started actually guarding Novak from that point and became for the most part a positive impact player. His D forced two turnovers, one from Chandler down low that resulted in a TRob coast-to-coast for the and-1, and another when his perimeter help made Felton lose it out of bounds. On one possession he aggressively fronted Amare and successfully denied an entry pass. He also made two nice passes into the paint, but Tyreke blew a wide open layup on one and Salmons didn't quite get the handle on the other and was forced to bring it out. Robinson played the majority of the garbage-time that was the second half, starting it off by again giving way too much space for a Carmelo 3. He played with effort despite the blow-out, so that's something. TRob blew by Amare for a layup and one (and hit 3 of 4 FTs overall, which is the best number I can remember from him). He played the disruptor again in the second half, forcing two more turnovers, but that's not the whole story. He continued to have trouble bringing down rebounds, only getting 4 in 26 minutes and rarely having any success trying to tap the ball to himself - in fact in one case the ball ended up going to Amare for an open dunk. He also had pretty poor results on his man defense, allowing 19 points on 11 shots with the Knicks hitting their first 7 straight shots taken on TRob before finally missing a few in the fourth. At least he was interesting to watch. --Capt.

    Stats: 19min 6pts (2-6, 0-2, 2-4) 1reb 1ast 1stl 0blk 0TO
Outlaw ( INC ) -- Yeah, he played 19 minutes, but the game was completely over by the time he set foot on the floor. He played pretty meh in garbage time - active enough, rotating OK on help and getting his hands on one pass but it was far too little and far too late. --Capt.

With the way this season is going, the internet might actually run out of girls for the grade threads.

Is there any chance Smart does the right thing and chooses to quit?

No. Why would he? What's he got to lose?

EDIT - And, for all of that, what makes you think that he thinks that it would be the right thing?

Time to write up a couple stories but figured I'd get this out there. DeMarcus Cousins said in a rather sarcastic tone (again) that the solution to the Kings problem is to listen to Keith Smart. Cousins went on to say he's sacrificing his game by going along with Smart's plan.

Tyreke Evans then said Smart told the team to blame him for what's happened lately. Evans disagreed saying that Smart isn't on the floor and efforts like tonight's can only be fixed by the players.

Time to get to writing but this situation gets uglier every day
    Per Jason Jones.

Edit: For girls, instead of Romanian how about this Bulgarian beauty. Zhana Yaneva.

“Sacramento is where I want to be,’’ he said. “I want to bring the organization back, help the organization get started back winning. I love the city of Sacramento. That’s where I want to be. End of story. “We can dig a hole, throw that topic in there, cover it with dirt, pack it down. I want to be in Sacramento. End of story.’’ -DeMarcus Cousins

Our franchise literally is about to rise from the ashes.

like 100's of other coaches in all sports when they know they have lost the players and none of what they say works they quit.

Are you serious? I have seen more times than I can count that happending in sports, where a coach just needs a fresh start because he does not beleive he can help the team get better or the players have quit on him.

Indeed. Just because a coach "resigns," doesn't mean he's doing it for the good of the team. It also doesn't mean that it was actually his choice to "resign."
