Demarcus Cousins doesn't like Aaron Brooks

This is not a Demarcus bashing by no means. In the last two games there has been a tift on the court between Demarcus and Aaron. Against the raptors it was both. Last night against the Nets Aaron brook had a fastbreak. Thompson and Cousins where trailing. instead of kicking back to one of the bigs Brooks attempted a layup and got blocked. Cousins got the rebound and putback dunk. Instead of celebrating the big dunk Demarcus scream and glared at Brooks "Pass the ****ing Ball". Now I don't think Demarcus would do that to IT. I am wondering of that was the dust up with coach smart. Cousins just obviously don't like Brooks on the court with him. Funny how since the suspension IT has been the starter also

I mentioned this in the game thread, i have no idea if there is actually a problem but there is such a thing as on court and off court relationships.

yeah Brooks and Cousins do not have that relationship. he def has one with IT. Cuz and JT relationship has grown and gets stronger each game. everybody loves Garcia. BTW i would like Garcia to resign with us next year for less money of course just for this reason.

I was going to mention it in the grades, seconded UK's mention of it in the other thread, and happen to have had the exact same thoguhts about how he might have treated IT in the same circumstance. Which is why I said that's not great. Not only because the rifts in the players are sitll there, but because if ever in 1000 years Cousins ever wants to be a leader that anyone will follow, he can't just be a bully playing favorites with his friends. You can't embarass teammates like that publicly, and you certianly can't play favorites in doing so or you just become a reprehensible leader of the in crowd while everyone else looks over their shoulder resenting/fearing you. I even remain a little suspicious about the timing of IT's reinsertion into the starting lineup coinciding with Boogie's return from suspension. A friend to placate him? Could his outbursts have partially been triggered when somebody picked on his friend and took him out of the starting lineup? Was Brooks one of the guys who said you are with us or not in practice when he apolgized? etc.

Now on the other hand, my hope at the time was that maybe it was just Boogie being Boogie. Meaning having no control of his outbursts and in the flash of anger at the non pass saying what everybody else was feeling. I said something similar to the TV back home. Just would know better than to say it to my teammate's face..or rather yell it to his face in front of television cameras. If its just an outburst then you can see how that sort of behavior does not endear him but its jsut an outburst. If it indicates something deeper its more problematic. Either way Brooks may not be long for the team, by his choice or ours.

I went back to the Toronto game out of interest and this is the play that caused Cuz and Brooks to get into it.

If you remember also just after the suspension an Amick article said something like 'team mates give him the ball to avoid his wrath'

DeMarcus Cousins doesn't like a lot of people so this isn't really news! But seriously, I'm not really a huge Brooks fan either. He's almost always chucking or dribbling around trying to find a way to get his offense. He's never appeared to be a team player.

I would have done the same thing as Cousins did. I wish Evans can do the same. Our midgets who think they were as good and important as Cousins and Evans should learn when to defer.

Aaron Brooks isn't a player I would want to play with, either.

This doesn't excuse DeMarcus, though. Just like I didn't excuse Cousins for how he yelled at Coach Smart - not because he was right or wrong, but because it wasn't the time/place/etc. Especially with his reputation, and the amount of times I'm willing to bet his teammates want to yell and him, and don't, because they have better judgement and are frankly more mature.

This being said, I'd trade Brooks in heartbeat. In a salary dump, too. Particularly when Evans and Thornton get back.

I continue to be a little mystified by the favoritism and differential treatment, not by DeMarcus, but by the fans:

    21.4min 10.6pts (.448 .352 .873) 1.7reb 2.6ast 0.5stl 0.0blk 1.7TO = tough, scrappy, saavy leader of men with big upside
    23.8min 9.3pts (.468 .396 .730) 1.9reb 2.8ast 0.8stl 0.2blk 1.5TO = selfish twit we should cut
    14.2min 8.2pts (.434 .411 .908) 1.1reb 1.4ast 0.3stl 0.1blk 1.0TO = unselfish, incomparable shooter, and one helluva nice guy

There's apparently been a lot of the saying what everybody else was feeling directed at DFC lately, so I'm not gonna be too upset if he says it to someone else, especially when it's game related and not an outburst directed at the officials or the coach. Brooks deserved to have someone say it to him.

But doesn't it come down to the fact that if 'everyone is playing, no one is playing well'? You have to either get rid of someone or have Keith Smart decide to bench one of them .. which is something he has never been able to do.

Why not have that guy be the player our best player doesn't like, the oldest one, the one with the least potential, the one who makes the most money, the one we have no long term control over, and the one with the most selfish tendencies? (this is debatable).

I think SOMEONE, if not two players when we are healthy, need to go. I could deal Thomas or Jimmer. That wouldn't bother me. But If I had a choice it would be Brooks.

There's a way of doing things though isn't there.

Why not tell Brooks in a time out "hey you missed me on that play i was wide open" or "you've got to get me the ball early in the shot clock." It doesn't help team harmony to be cussing people out on the court and getting to where the Coach is coming to see why you're arguing. I mean i would get the frustration blowing up if brooks was just jacking up awful shot after awful shot with 22 seconds on the SC but he isn't doing that is he.

Of course that would have been the optimum action, but things don't always go the way you'd like in the middle of a game, especially a frustrating game. Cousins was BATTLING for position and called for the ball. Brooks pretty much ignored him completely. I don't think this is any different - except for the players involved - than when Kobe gets pissed at one of his players for not keeping their eyes open and their head in the game.

Well, i mean look at the score. I wouldn't call the Toronto game a frustrating one either. He had a monster game.

Ok last night Brooks should have dropped the ball off on that break but it was an isolated incident... worthy of getting cussed out audibly? hmm not for me.

I'm not trying to go in on cuz, i just think this is another small step he needs to take so he can be respected as "the man" on this team. Respect and being scared of getting cussed out is not the same thing.

I'm curious how many of you have played orginized sports in front of a large audience. First off, you forget that the audience is there. Your focus is entirely on what your doing, and if it wasn't, and you were paying attention to the audience, you wouldn't be performing to your potential. Having said that, I don't know of any athlete worth his salt, that hasn't gotten into the face of some teammate at one time or another, or had a teammate get in his face. We all make mistakes, and in the heat of the moment, either you, or your teammate is going to verbalize personal dissatification. 99% of the time, it means nothing, and it ends right there.

Thats not to say that if a particular teammate continues to make the same mistake over and over again, that it can't grow into something more than just a single incident. There are times when I think Brooks plays very well. There are other times when he appears to have the interests of just one player in mind, himself! Recently he appears to have discovered tunnel vision, and oddly enough, it seems to coincide with his ending up in the second unit. I remember in the game before last when he came in, he drove the ball down the floor and made pass across the entire court to Jimmer, who couldn't get the shot off because he was covered too quickly. After that, wherever Jimmer was on the court, the ball went the other way, and he only touched the ball one time after that. Does that mean he doesn't like Jimmer? Or does it mean that he simply got tunnel vision, and couldn't see him, or even think about him.

In the video above, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Cousins was being fronted, and he just may have decided to avoid a potential turnover and passed the ball the other way. On TV, you could see that the right pass would have left Cousins a clear path to the basket. But maybe if your just 5'11" you can't see what we could see. My suggestion is to not make too much of this. Things always get said in the heat of the moment during a game. I know I've said things, and after the game, I can't even remember what I said, and in most cases, neither can the person I said them too. One thing you'll hear a lot of on any team is, "My Bad".

I bealive Brooks was specifically brought in to be traded because of the lack of assets we have. Minn might be intrested depending on the severity of loves injury.

I know you know this, but stats really don't mean much of anything in this scenario when on the floor each of them play 100% differently than one another.

Brooks is not really worth much. I would say he's probably worth an early second round pick at best. Certainly not Kevin Love. I don't care how much he hates Minnesota, they won't give him up for Brooks.
