[NBA] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (January)

Its not exactly a Kings suspension, but it sorta fits in this thread I guess.

    From rotoworld:
*Charlie Villanueva will appeal his $25,000 fine for his flagrant foul on Isaiah Thomas
"He saw an open lane, I tried to block the ball and he’s 4-foot-11, a 100 pounds wet so he looks bad," Villanueva said. "I’m not a dirty player. I didn’t try to hurt him at all." He does have a beef since his right hand did look to make a play on the ball. Villanueva still might have a tough time winning the appeal, though.*

The 4'11 and 100 pounds soaking wet comment is great I think a few of us thought it was an accident, but the choke afterwards deserves a suspension anyway.

Nah no suspension but a fine had Cousins done the same thing to another PG we would all be saying they shouldn't suspend him but fine him (they would suspend him obviously). Imo that was not deserving of a suspension, cheap play yeah but Thomas did overreact slightly which was fair enough, imo a fine is just nothing more, Dwight push on Faried was worse and he didn't get suspended.

LOL. That's not going to help you win your appeal Charlie.

This seems more like a Trolls thread than any anything. No point, only surfing for comments.

Mod note: I moved this post and the resulting comments to the appropriate thread. The original thread was for fines and suspensions against the Kings and this incident doesn't fit that criteria - thankfully.

I remember a lot of the forum was enamored with him, but I'm certainly glad he's gone. What a cancer who believes he's supposed to be an All-Star so badly.

Was sitting here in the library on the first day back for winter quarter at UC Davis then I see this.. @Mike_Bresnahan Metta World Peace might play a little center as well, Lakers Coach Mike D'Antoni said. Surreal Then im wondering why... and then i see this.. @KBergCBS: MRI reveals that Dwight Howard has a torn labrum in his right shoulder and is out indefinitely, Lakers announce Gasol, Hill, Howard are all injured.

welp, there goes my fantasy team's season. never been less unhappy about it though.

edit: initial prognosis is something like a week? sounded a lot more severe than that.

Bet he wishes he was still here playing with "ballhog, selfish" Tyreke Evans

With all the turmoil of the past couple of days, it's doing my heart good to see the Thunder crushing the Al Roker at the White House out of the Lakers. leading with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter by 21 points. Sometimes you just have to take the joy where you can find it.

I'm truly fascinated by what this will do to Kobe's legacy. Remember when Jordan was in his prime, played with three future hall of famers, and failed to make the playoffs? Neither do I.

To Kobe's credit he's really playing very very well for his age. If anything I think it's Dwight that has been very poor in his play, and also the fact that D'Antoni was the wrong coach for them to hire.

What's the feeling down there in La-La Land? Do they think the Lakers can once again flip the switch?

Oh you mean in the land of the Clipper Bandwagon?

I believe the headline on the cover of yesterday's LA Times read "It's not hip to be a Lakers Fan"

things I'd never have considered possible when the season started: the Magic seem to have won the Dwight trade. none of the teams involved can be as happy with their pieces as the Magic would be with Afflalo, Vuc, Harkless and capspace. Denver maybe comes close and can only be truly evaluated, once they've completed the soft patch of their schedule, Philly is obviously rather unhappy with their situation and we all know and rejoice in the Lakers misery. incredible, isn't it?

Soft patch? As recently as last week, they had played the most road games of any team in the league, and they're still tied for second-most. What's soft about that?

What I hate, more than anything, about this arena/relocation drama is that it's cheating me out of my ability to properly enjoy the lakers' collapse.

they're entering the soft patch. what I meant was that they've had a really tough schedule so far, which is why it's difficult to properly evaluate them. they could still turn out winners of that trade.

Drummond with 18 points and 18 rebounds so far tonight... 5:30 to go. If he can get to 20-20 he would be the youngest player ever to do it, passing Dwight.

edit: coach put in singler with 5 minutes left, so close.
