It's not about the final record. For me it's more about the fact that while we're unhappy, Laker fans are frothing at the mouth. It gives me comfort.

It has been shown through social psychological studies that the saying "misery loves company" is not quite true. The data instead more accurately supports "misery loves miserbable company," and "misery hates happy company."

You provide an excellent example of it.

I have maintained that my 2 favorite teams in the NBA are:

1) The Kings
2) whoever is playing the Lakers

This galls me because the Suns, from my point of view, seem to be built eerily like the Kings (Skilled big-check. Dynamic guard who can't shoot-check. Soft, jump-shooting roleplayers-check. Can't defend-check. Beat like a drum on the glass-check). And yet, they, at least, seem to have some sort of identity, and look like they might have some sort of general ideal of what direction they want to move in. And, as bad as they are, they're still better than us. That leave a bad taste in my mouth.

No doubt. This was the best NBA rivalry in a long time. I was watching this game with my brother and dad when it happened. Crazy everyone was so impassioned back then.
