Article on the tale of two owners. The Kings, and the Wizards!

Nothing we didn't already know, but affirmation is always a good thing. The article does make some good points about how you can be a good, bad owner, or a bad, bad owner. Guess which one is the Maloofs?

Anyone know anything about this Moore guy? Where is he from? Curious as to what led him to write this piece and how he got to his findings. My fear with this whole situation has always been that the league is slightly blinded to what is going on. To my knowledge this is the first non-Sacramento write that has said or insinuated that the league needs to do everything in their power to boot the Maloofs.

Good quote here that gives some hope for Sacramento Kings fans:

"The Maloofs were good owners when they took over. But once they started down the path they have, once this situation became untenable, the league had a responsibility to exert political and internal pressure to resolve it. Yes, they own the franchise, and can hold onto it no matter what if they so desire. But it is an NBA franchise, and the league does hold power in a great many ways. In the future, it has to use it."
"I want the community to know that we're going to fight like crazy to get to where we need to be."
    – Kevin Johnson, reacting to reports of a potential sale of the Kings to a Seattle group

What's the difference between ignorance and indifference? I don't know and don't care.

I agree with you. Its my hope that the league refuses to reward owners (The Maloof's) by giving them another chance in another city. There should be a standard, and maybe there is in the league rules, some critiera, that has to be met. To allow the Maloof's to move to another city, or even maintain the status quo in sacramento, is like a slap in the face to every other franchise in the league thats doing things the right way. The very fact that this article was written, is a black eye for the league.

It would be a colossal mistake for the league to let the Kings move, at least with the Maloofs still owning the team. What possible excuse do the Maloofs really have? I think they were shocked when KJ actually put together a good arena deal. Why should any city put up money for an arena, only to get screwed by a team owner for no good reason. I think the Maloofs have to drive away sponsors, season ticket holders and drive down attendance, so they can claim its a bad place to be. But that is so transparently the fault of the owners, not the fans. It would be awful for the league to let them get away with that as an excuse, when they have so obviously caused the problem, not the fans or the city.
PROUD OF SACRAMENTO. PROUD TO BE A KINGS FAN.

well, IIRC, Matt Moore started out as a Grizzlies blogger that started Hardwood Paroxysm, went through True Hoop and now has a steady gig at CBS. knows a fair bit about dealing with a problematic ownership, because of his Grizzlies roots.
