anyone elses love for the Kings/NBA being destroyed?

Born and raised a Kings fan, i love NBA basketball more than most things in this world. and this is definitely the low point in my life as a fan.

rebuilding for this long and look at us. a franchise with no direction and really no light at the end of the tunnel (and thats even IF the team remains in this city), Owners that could care less about our city or the success of our team, a GM who is more overdue to be fired than AJ Smith and Norv Turner in San Diego

EVERY team in the league that has tried to rebuild in the last 6 years has passed us up. Hell look at the warriors!!! they are freaking 15-7 right now, just won their 4th game in a row (all 4 on the road) and it was in Miami against the defending freaking champion Miami Heat!

judging by the crap attendance at games, and the increasingly lower amount of activity in game/grades threads here on this forum, id say im not the only one who is losing interest in watching this team (even though i LOVE the NBA and more importantly my Kings). i just feel like the lack of care from the owners and front office is killing my love for this team.

i feel like i would be a happier person if i was born into litteraly ANY other NBA market in the country..........

I still watch and still follow, but there's little excitement. It's tough when there's numerous mistakes from our FO and coach and no one takes accountability for any of them. Maloofs make this even tougher.

Leaving for Eastern Europe on Sun and I doubt I'll be getting up in the middle of the night to watch this. Just don't see how I'll talk myself into that. Previously I would have, but at the moment it's not worth being pissed off the rest of the day for.

“Sacramento is where I want to be,’’ he said. “I want to bring the organization back, help the organization get started back winning. I love the city of Sacramento. That’s where I want to be. End of story. “We can dig a hole, throw that topic in there, cover it with dirt, pack it down. I want to be in Sacramento. End of story.’’ -DeMarcus Cousins

Our franchise literally is about to rise from the ashes.

ya every season i watch every play of every game (thanks to DVR when im busy during the actual game time)

but this year for the first time, i dont have desire to do that. especially games like tonight. i just fastforward through the majority of the game. Smart, Petrie, and the Maloofs have killed my passion

I will always love basketball. If the Kings leave I'll just keep following players and coaches that I enjoy while watching more college ball. Some people will talk down to people like yourself, those ready to jump ship, and while I doubt I could ever do the same at this point it's hard for me to blame you due the awful ownership situation.

Who said anything about jumping ship? Jumping ship and lack of excitement about the team are two different things.

Maybe I misinterpreted, Reke original post. If so then my bad.

Honestly, I mostly watch because I'm a Kings fan, but I really watch just to see Cousins play. He's the only player that plays with emotion. He's also the antithesis of the league right now, so maybe that gets him extra love from me.

I haven't liked the direction the NBA has been going for awhile now. Stern's model is based around Jordan. It's based around a Machiavellian reality of superstars and now super-teams. The league has no interest in showcasing the beautiful game of basketball. It's more about drama and big lights. When the Artest brawl happened, Stern started taking measures to remove the personality from the players and the game. Now the league is full of smiling robots standing at the free throw line. It doesn't reflect the beauty of the game at all.

But I still always rooted for the Kings. I believe in sports for its harmless tribalism and the friendly banter of rivalry. With the Maloofs though, it doesn't feel like the city's team. It's just a franchise held hostage by the Ruthless People of today. Instead of reminding me of why I love basketball, the situation reminds me of what I hate about a world of corporate power and loud. senseless noise.

I'll root for the team and follow the team as long as they are in Sacramento. When they leave, I'll quit the NBA.

No problem. We still have fans here, fans going to games, fans watching at home, and I think most fans still follow the team. But I just doubt many are excited or even look forward to much right now. Activity on this forum and the decline of the activity here kinda shows that.

I'll always follow. Many here still follow and watch. But the energy from the fanbase has plummeted imo, and rightly so. At the same time, I think many fans out there are watching in a reserved manner, and when this team does start turning it around we'll see and hear more from them. But that'll also take a lot more than a 3 game win streak. It's why the 3 game win streak didn't excite me much, because as we've seen, we know what tends to follow.

    Tough situation.

I've been a Kings fan for as long as I can remember. I will continue to be a Kings fan but me staying up very late (live in Eastern Time) and digging around the internet to find the games will probably stop for a little while. I still believe this roster can make the playoffs, however, the team has no hope and I cannot blame them. They never know if they can have any resemblance of permanency, they cycle through coaches like they are socks and the roster is not put together well. Why do we have 4-5 PG's yet no backup center?

If Rick Adelman was handed Tyreke and DMC along with a pure shooter like Jimmer and a player like MT who can put up 20 in his sleep and veterans like Chuck and Cisco who could care less about how big/small their role is, he would have a playoff team.

I've been a Kings fan since they first came to Sacramento. Like some of you, that means I've seen it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. What we've got right now is beyond bad and ugly. It's freakin embarrassing! And for someone who never gave up on the Kings during the Dick Motta and Garry St. Jean years, that's saying something! But now we've been left with crap at all levels, from buffoon owners to inept management and coaching, to whining and underachieving players. This is about as bad as it gets for a fan. Then throw in the uncertainty of whether they'll even be the Sacramento Kings in 2-3 years. There are times when being a Kings fan feels like an affliction.

I just hate the Maloofs but I still love the Kings.

I became a fan in the Spud Webb days. There was no real internet thing going on back then but I'm sure all of us enjoyed watching Mitch Richmond and that was about all we had really. Most of us here that were fans pre Webber are used to losing for a long period of time.

It's just losing with somewhat talented players, awful coaching and inept owners is what's hard to swallow.

It is what it is. You just have to accept it or move on. The Warriors are looking great and If Bogut comes back healthy it could be a Cinderella season for the W's. Good on them. Meanwhile the Lakers are only 2 games better in the win column than the Kings. And the Lakers have a 100 million payroll!!!

Petrie can save the day with a trade. Lets see if he has any magic left.

I certainly enjoy watching the Kings, but right now to be honest if Tyreke or Cousins got traded I would be very tempted to just start following their new teams. I rarely find myself even rooting for the Kings despite watching the games, because what I see is crappy basketball that has no chance of winning in the long run. If our games at least had Cousins and Tyreke in them with the offense running through them and all that I would continue rooting for the team regardless of the W-L result. But I now find myself paying $50 local (about ... $30 USD) a month just to watch Travis Outlaw and John Salmons and future HOF-er Isaiah Thomas throw up shots while Tyreke and Cousins rot on the bench or are out for whatever reason. I have ZERO ties to Sacramento, but still I've chosen to support the team through all these losing seasons. The team used to excite me because at least we had some sort of star players. Now our star players miss every other game or are iced by their own coach who I believe lacks a basketball brain.

Still, one big thing that will keep me supporting this team is this forum right here. Kingsfans has become a part of my daily routine. The team sucks, but at least we have a good community here for all of us to b*tch about it together.

My love for the Kings will never be demolished. I have stated this before, and I shall state it again. I am a Kings fan, not a Maloofs fan. Like some, I will agree that my rooting for the team has a heck of a lot of local influence behind it (seeing that I currently live in Roseville, California).

Unlike most, I do not feel the tight attachment to any of my sports teams, probably because other than one, the Kings, my teams call other cities their home (San Francisco Giants - MLB, San Jose Sharks - NHL, Dallas Cowboys - NFL)

In all honesty, I am probably as much of a Giants fan as I am a Kings fan. I am as much of a Sharks fan as I am a Kings fan. And I am probably more of a Cowboys fan than I am a Kings fan. People would not know that because I just happen to be living in Kings Country. I love sports in general.

If the Kings move from Sacramento, then I will come to terms with the move and will accept the fact that I will have to watch my favorite team go to new places with new faces in another city. I will live with that.

I understand my viewpoints will be endlessly bashed and you will want to probably make a mockery out of my comments. Don't worry about that, I can definitely take more than most of you will be able to dish. Being disabled myself, I live it pretty much on a daily basis.

Really? Really? Did you just take a page out of Demarcus Cousins' book of cheap shots? I speak for every single Kings fan out there who has spent money on this team over the past couple of seasons by watching a game or two, or three, or maybe even more live...that was pretty dumb to say...

I've actually been thinking this very thing for some time now, and this season has only made it worse. The way the OP put it was perfect. Simply my enthusiasm and passion is diminishing rather quickly. And it's depressing really. Some of the best moments of my life were watching this team play, staying up late outside just pretending I was the team I saw on TV, getting Arco 2 hours early just watch one or two players warm up. It's amazing to me that the greed and stubborness of a couple men (the Maloofs) can ruin something so special. This is something my family united behind for years, something we stayed up late to watch together. And now, just looking at the box score after each game seems to do the trick.

I can't imagine what new ownership would do for this team. I'm sure it wouldn't change everything around in an instant, but I do know things would change. The ownership would actually point the fans to the hope that lies down the road. New owners, new GM, new coach, new players, new arena, we need it all.

And to top it off, the my passion for the NBA has gone away as well. After watching the media fixate itself on Miami for the last couple years and after watching Dwight Howard absolutely terrorize the Magic for a year and finally go to a desirable location, I've had enough (tho it's quite amusing and satisfying to see the Lakers experience turmoil of any kind now that their plans are not working out). I could keep going, but frankly, I'm just disappointed in what has become of this team and of this league.

im not talkin about any of the people here, because obviously you guys all care about the team too of your here on this forum. im just saying if you consider how many kings fans there were in like 2006 compared to now, we (people who continue to support the team) are in the minority
