How bad does it have to get before changes are made
If more of the same continues Smart will get fired
If more of the same continues Petrie will get fired
If more of the same continues both Smart and Petrie will get fired
If things get worse Smart will get fired
If things get worse Petrie will get fired
If things get worse both Smart and Petrie will get fired
There will be no firings whatsoever for any reason(s). Probable player(s) will be traded
How bad does it have to get before changes are made
Smart is doing exactly what the Magoofs want!
Jim Capers once called a foul on me while I was sitting on the bench. Tweet! "Foul, number fifty-three! Five-three!" Everybody was confused and looking around for number 53, so I stood up and said, "I'm over here and the only thing I'm fouling is the water bottle." - Darryl Dawkins
^ This.
I appreciate a good math pun - as long as it isn't too graphic.
If we get blown out by the raptors there will be serious problems.
well, it's become as clear as crystal that the maloofs' priorities are in cutting operating costs and pushing behind the scenes to relocate the kings in hopes of a bailout from another city. i'm sure they wish they weren't broke and were able to put a competitive product out on the court, but such is not the state of this franchise or its owners. that said, the maloofs are as ego-battered as it gets in professional sports, and they're trying far too hard to keep up appearances in a hypermedia age that caught onto their act years ago. things are bad and everyone knows it. but the maloofs won't sign off on the moves necessary to fix it. that would require admitting that they've been wrong, that their course of action has been deeply flawed. so, i'd expect the tires to keep on spinning while this deflated excuse for a team sits on blocks. we may see player trades occur, but expect them to be lateral moves at best, rather than moves that might make the team more competitive either now or in the future...
SACRAMENTO KINGS -- est. 1985, reborn 2013
The Maloofs seem to sell a lot of tickets compared to the cost of producing "the product." I have never seen a game at Sleep Lame Arena, but the seats look pretty full on TV.
Even though we're LAST in attendance in the NBA, we still sell 12,000+ seats on average on home games. And don't forget that wonderful revenue sharing check that the Maloofs are banking on.
As long as the Maloofs can pay the bills, nothing will change. They'll continue to sacrifice quality, cut costs, and look for ways to get bailed out by relocating the team.
Sacramento's support continues to buy them time until they find a deal they like and move the team. Nothing will change. Except, eventually, the location of the team (or hopefully the ownership).
They are not going to fire Smart now after just giving him 2 more years. If it's a bad enough year Smart will go next summer.
Petrie will be fired soon if it gets worse. Its the last year of his contract anyway so it won't really cost the Maloof's anything. Jerry probably will be the interim GM until they find someone. Ugh
i gotta say i voted for the last option. because i think the Maloofs purely dont give a **** what the team is doing, and their failure is only helping their chances of leaving town. but i hope i jinx it because changes need to be made, yesterday
Why would they bother firing him? He and Smart are doing EXACTLY what the Maloofs want them to do. Why would they bother firing either of them, just to replace them with someone who is going to be expected to do the exact same thing? They risk getting someone who would be vocal and tell the media and fans some things that they'd rather keep internally...
