Honestly, I don't think it's that bad...it at least fits with New Orleans.
I appreciate a good math pun - as long as it isn't too graphic.

I always thought Nawlins should have kept Jazz name when franchise left for Utah. Utah had an ABA team called Stars so that might have worked for them. Pelicans; whoop de doo bird droppings doo.
"I want the community to know that we're going to fight like crazy to get to where we need to be."
    – Kevin Johnson, reacting to reports of a potential sale of the Kings to a Seattle group

What's the difference between ignorance and indifference? I don't know and don't care.

Me too. Jazz fit in NO, but definitely not in Utah.

The Pelican is the Louisiana state bird. At least its attached to the location of the team. Hornets name was right for Charlotte, so it would be nice if they could have the name back. "The hornet's nest has long been a symbol for Charlotte, because in the American Revolution, her citizens fought so fiercely that a British general compared being in Charlotte to being in a hornet's nest." Technically, though they sold the rights to the name and the franchise history. Maybe they could work something out.

Well there are positive attributes. Some pelicans fish together in teams. Perfect synchronization that's amazing to watch. I was mesmerized by them at a S. Carolina beach.

Amazing wingspan. And they are very efficient at gobbling up fish.

I wouldn't mind being the Pelicans, I wouldn't even mind being the Sacramento Maxi Pads as long as the franchise stays.

I wish all we had to complain about was our team's name.

“Sacramento is where I want to be,’’ he said. “I want to bring the organization back, help the organization get started back winning. I love the city of Sacramento. That’s where I want to be. End of story. “We can dig a hole, throw that topic in there, cover it with dirt, pack it down. I want to be in Sacramento. End of story.’’ -DeMarcus Cousins

Our franchise literally is about to rise from the ashes.

Agree, although I'm on the fence about the Maxi-Pads.

Sad thing is they'll be bird dropping their way to the playoffs while we continue to get top 10 picks year after year

at least New Orleans will still have a team in 2 years.

and if the team does stay, id rather have the team named the Sacramento Turd Sandwiches than have the Maloofs as owners and Smart as a coach

I actually really like the logo they chose. The name, not so much. But then again I don't think Lakers or Knicks are great names, either, FWIW.

    Long live the SACRAMENTO Kings!

Heh -- they just tried to make a pelican look mean. The New Orelans Angry Pelicans.

but yes, looks far more intimidating than the name.

They just need to have some blood dripping form the beak to complete the effect.
