    Tyreke Evans or James Harden

Who is the better player? Or who do you think will be the better player since both are just 23 years old. after seeing harden in Houston as the number 1 option how do you think he and tyreke compare? Do you think harden would fit better with cousins? Not in any way saying i want to trade tyreke for harden(not that Houston would do that anyway) but just like to compare these 2 players

No doubt as of now that Harden is the better player. Tyreke certainly has(had?) the higher ceiling with his physical attributes and athleticism. Due to a mixture of poor player development and injuries to Tyreke, his game has become stagnant. HE NEEDS A J and still has not been able to develop one. Tyreke certainly has become a much better defender and does not flop like Harden.

Harden by a mile. But that also has to do with the success of OKC when he was a Thunder...I mean, if 'Reke had Kevin Durant to look after him, I am sure he'd be significantly better...

Harden, but Tyreke is a better defender.

Ill take Tyreke. But id like a GM who can surround Tyreke with the right pieces and a real coach please. If tyreke had those things, hes a Star

Harden without a doubt and twice on Sundays. He's a much better scorer, shooter, playmaker, and has a much higher b-ball IQ than Reke. You can't give Reke a defensive advantage either until Reke proves he can consistently play at a high level defensively

I still believe Evans has a higher ceiling. Too bad he might be on another team when he reaches it.
I appreciate a good math pun - as long as it isn't too graphic.

I don't really know what the question is. To the objective observer, Harden is clearly superior. There are two areas that Tyreke wins out - ballhandling, and defense. Harden wins every other category. Sorry, but it's true. Now, I love Tyreke, and I certainlt don't wan't to trade him. Lets see if he can susatain this level of play.

I don't know whether Harden is a better offensive rebounder, either (and, frankly, it remains to be seen whether his TS% and eFG% numbers will continue to hold up, now that he's no longer benefiting from doubles from Durant), but I see where you're coming from.

Harden has two areas: he's an excellent shooter and a tremendous flopper. Second one is obviously an exaggeration - he's really good at drawing fouls. What other areas he's better than Evans?

I certainly think it could be fairly stated that Harden has better court vision than Evans, at least in the sense that facilitating other people's offense comes more natural to Harden than it does to Evans. He's at least as good a defensive rebounder as Evans is, and statistics seem to indicate that he's better at getting to the line, although how much of that is just him being perceived by officials as being more of a star than Evans is remains undetermined. Harden certainly gets the benefit of calls on moves that Evans hasn't gotten calls for since his rookie season, but I'm unconvinced as to how much of that is true regression, and how much of that is confirmation bias.

I personally believe Harden is better in every facet of the game on the offensive end, and i'm puzzled why people think Reke is even a better ballhandler than Harden. Like I stated, though, Reke's defense is way better than Harden's. On the right team, Reke could be a more pivotal player on a title team. However, Harden is better when the team is his and he makes all the decisions.

Well, we certainly know that Harden is better when he's playing with talent, and has a coach worth a damn. Beyond that, it remains to be proven.

As far as ball handling goes, I like how they described it on Open Court: when you have two guys with the ball get trapped by a double team, the guy who is more likely/more capable to dribble out of the double team (as opposed to pass) is the guy who has the better "handles." IMO, that guy is not Harden.

Harden by a mile. He's a player you could build a team around, Evans is not.

I would even go as far as saying Jrue Holiday is a better player right now than Evans is.

Silly thread, I assume just designed to bag on Tyreke?

How silly of course depend son whetehr Reke is bakc or not. The Reke of recent weeks is NOT out of James Harden's class. May not be as good, but is a star in his own right. But we'll have to see if it holds.

That's why I added Jrue. I was trying to turn it into a "draft class" thread rather than how much better Harden is than Reke. Sad but it's true. Harden is better, and Harden is a winner, and Jrue is becoming a winner in his own right. Reke is probably still top 4 or 5 in the draft class so he's about where he was picked, talent wise.

Me, personally, I would take Griffin, Harden, Holiday, Evans/Rubio, *(and a few more in no particular order after #5) Curry, Lawson, Thornton, Jennings, Teague, Collison, Mullens, and a lot of others.

Why do you assume the thread was created to bag on Tyreke? What if the majority said he was a better player than Harden? While Tyreke has played well the past couple of weeks, that doesn't mean much in the NBA unless you can do it consistently. He hasn't shown that he's capable of that yet.

You are bat-sh*t crazy if you think Harden's ball-handling is on the same level as Tyrekes. But then again, that would be in line with your posting in general.

I don't think it's a fair comparison until we see Tyreke in a proper system running the team, as he should.

Harden basically plays the point for Houston, he obviously shoots the ball from deep a lot better than Reke and he's improved his passing game big time. I do think Reke is an underrated passer though. Harden is also just as savvy round the rim. The "handles" argument, well reke is a flashier ball handler but so what?

Harden also plays nearly 39 minutes a game.

If you saw Reke playing in Hardens place in Houston i suspect his numbers would be similar.
