Good to see. The team very easily could have started calling out Smart or each other and leading to a real hostile environment. Whether it translated to wins or not, it's nice to see them take responsibility and at least attempt to come together as a team

Sometimes these things work, and sometimes they don't. Everyone always says they just want to win, but they also want to be an important part of the win. The hard part is convincing a player, that his 7 to 10 minutes, is important. Of course its easier to make that argument if your winning.
Its hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

The players only meeting is a sign that the apparent disfunction on the court has been real. And I agree its sort of the last self-correction signpost before we get into quit on the coach/coach fired/guys traded territory. They can work, have worked. But they have also failed. It was good that they had one and it maybe gives some hope, but if there isn't much difference on court than the more serious remedies will quickly come in play. Here again it should be noted that these first 6 weeks were the EASY part of our schedule. A decent start was paramount to us having any chance to make the post All Star break relevant for this team. If we blunder through the rest of this soft patch then all things become possible form there on out because once again it just won't matter to us what we do after that point.

On the other hand I would think there would be pressure on us to turn it now or to quickly make a change before things go too far and the season isn't recoverable. I just doubt we have the stomach for that right now, and I think Smart has effectively destroyed the trade value of our main potential trade pieces.

Perhaps I've become way too cynical in my old age, but I'd like to hear about the meeting from someone not associated with the Kings. I guess those who are in attendance today will have to be the eyes and ears for the rest of us. My fingers are crossed but I'll be honest - I am not very hopeful at this point.

No, I was going to note that as well -- a report that the meeting was peachy keen put up by Kings PR people on the Kings own website is hardly reliable.

How's THAT going for you Coach?? Looks like your players are responding well to it.
"The current Sacramento Kings owners have proven time and time again that they do not care about the squad’s fans, the community that surrounds the team, and the product on the court. The Sacramento Kings owners are sniveling, conniving front-runners that do not understand the game of basketball, much less the ideals that help buttress attempts at tact, poise and reason." - Kelly Dwyer

The NBA should go back to short shorts -- made your tall guys look REALLY long.

I admit that I like the short shorts better than todays shorts.
