    Random comments trade thread

We have too many damn threads. We need to start using super threads, that way there will not be 7 threads with the same discussions going on in them. We don't need a new thread every time someone has a hair brained trade idea.

That being said, with this current roster, we need to do a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 trade, and at this point I really don't care who it is except cousins. We need to move at minimum a guard and a small forward. Preferably two SF's and 1 Guard for one player.

We have 3 player who replicate each other in Thorton, Jimmer and Brooks (I know they are not exactly the same, but they are all gunners and small for SG).

We also have 3 SF's who really should not see the floor. Garcia, Outlaw and Salmons.

I've said it a million times in one form or another, but Dudley for Thornton. Bigger, better defense, experienced but still young (27), and while less scoring the outside shooting is still there. Save 3 mil in cap space to boot.
Suns wanted Gordon, now they have a similar piece to build around.

But why would WE want to do that now. We are seeing the potency Thornton can bring as a 6th man. And its working.

So Thornton can score starting or off the bench, great. Maybe the best thing about it is he stands in the way of Brooks jacking up every shot. That doesn't mean it's working.

I'm sure the Kings will not be hurting looking for guys willing to shoot the ball. Now when Smart wants to play a shooter next to Evans, there will be a real sized SF out there. As a bonus, there will never be a reason to see Outlaw in a game again, and Salmons can function as a backup SG, taking him from no value to mildly useful.

Since MT's value is at it's highest, maybe the Kings can pry one the Sun's many 1st rounders too, to replace the one going to POR.

im sorry but out to me theres 2 guys that should NOT be traded... Cousins, and MT.. MT is doing much more than just score... that guy also has the ability to not just produce during games but come CLUTCH !!! in moments where even some all-stars collapse

I see what you did there...

Sorry, but this thread sucks. I like separate threads for separate trade ideas. It's a lot more interesting than an unending mismatch of random comments all lumped together with the occasional gem tossed in...

Yah I kinda agree.. It's much easier to discuss things when they have their own thread rather than sifting through this big thread full of every idea possible.

So far, the only player thats been consistent, at least on the scoring end is Thornton, so I'm not ready to trade him away. To say that its not workiing with him as the sixth man doesn't make any sense. Maybe its not working as far as the team being successful, but thats not Thorntons fault. He's doing his job. As far as the Kings team is concerned, he's an impact player when he comes into the game, and in many ways. For one thing, he becomes the focus of the other teams defense, which makes life easier for others on the floor. He legitimately helps spread the floor. You have to guard him!!!! Actually for this reason, the Kings might want to consider starting Thornton over Tyreke, in order to get a good outside shooter on the floor with Cuz. It might even take some of the pressure off of Tyreke, who frankly, looks confused at times on just what to do on offense. He just doesn't look confident at times, and almost like he's just trying things to see what might work. As opposed to Thornton, who always seems to know what he wants to do.

Probably not a popular idea for those that are married to the idea of Tyreke being a superstar. No doubt that Tyreke is a better defender than Thornton, but Thornton has taken his defense to a higher level this year. Don't get me wrong, I still think Tyreke can be a very good player, but he's being asked to change his game, change his jumpshot, and at the same time, be one of the premier defenders in the league. I think he's struggling with that change right now, and the best thing for him right now, might be to come off the bench with the idea of being an impact player, a disrupter on defense, and an attacker on offense.

I was just looking at our Salaries and think out best bet would be to try and package someone with Garcia since he is an expiring. But that could hinder resigning Tyreke next year.

Can we trade Brooks, or are there limitations because he is a new signing.

Since Petrie has lusted after Brooks for a few years, and now finally has him, I doubt he would consider trading him. Unless someone makes him an offer he can't refuse of course!

Trade Brooks and Jimmer for Afflalo. Brooks plays reckless basketball and Jimmer is a subpar defender. Afflalo defends, shoots, and otherwise stays out of the way. This also shortens our rotation by 1.

And so the Magic do that because...

Starting price is Evans, then maybe hope they settle for Thornton and Jimmer or a 2nd round pick. More likely they ask for Trob + MT.

Yeah, Afflalo is playing better than i realized. Maybe Evans/Brooks/Salmons for Afflalo/Richardson.

Are we talking about the same afflalo? He's having a nice season but nothing that justifies this kind of talk. And he's 27 so it's not like there is a ton of upside there. He'd be a nice piece but there is only so much I'd give away for him.

There are a few teams that really need a guard, Pacers, Lakers, maybe Bucks and Raptors if they are trading away expiring contracts, Pistons, Wizards all come to mind, and the Kings and Twolves seem to have extra at the moment.

Not sure there would be much return value but Detroit and Washington have extra bigs, even Miami has extra SF and poor guards. Brooks for Battier maybe? IT for Singler or Monroe?
