Tyreke Evans not likely to recieve extension

    http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.c...ans-extension/

not that this is a huge surprise but i wonder how much this has to do with the magoofs ability to pay rather than wanting to see how he plays this year. the kings have leverage right now to maybe negotiate with him at a reletively bargin price rather than him breaking out and earning a higher price tag.

I think this has less to do with Tyreke and more to do with Gorge Mafool... They should move the Kings to Oakland... because they ditch their young talent as they come into their prime to save a little money like the A's and have a league-rebel owner like the Raiders used to have.

I don't think this is even new news. He's referencing a Bee story of today which casually mentions word that has been out for a few months, if I recall.

Nothing much new on the Tyreke Evans front.

I'm delighted to hear (in the Jones Sac Bee article) that the Kings appear to be weighing IQ heavily in their analysis of players. Yahoo! Music to my ears. The brain-deadedness has got to go with this team. Brains and passion for the game should be weighted heavily in the evaluation process.

I just hope he comes back with a much better jump shot next year, so the magoofs won't have that excuse to trade him. F**k the magoofs anyways, we won't ever be successful with those idiots owning the team.

So we draft Reke, a player with crazy high potential. Hire a coach that makes absolutely ZERO effort to teach the game of basketball, and instead fosters bad habits in Reke with his garbage "freelance offense" ISO ball. Fire that coach, hire a new coach who plays Reke out of position so that he might "see the game from a different angle", wasting half a season after making quick progress while working with Reke at PG. Then, 3 years later, we decide Reke hasnt made enough progress and the team might go in a different direction.

I honestly think that if this franchise drafted Durant he would be a scrub today.

I don't think it would be in Reke's interest to sign an extension now. He is better off testing restricted free agency following a year of injury and a year of being played out of position. I also would not be surprised at all if he would welcome testing the free agent market to see if a team that would use him properly would want him. If I were him, I'd be happy to leave.
    Upwards and onwards.

C'mon... give our franchise some credit. If we drafted Durant, he'd be a better JJ Redick playing SG.

So back to the topic, I haven't been following Kings news regarding personnel all that closely but are we really ready to ship Tyreke? It's his 3rd year for crying out loud, aren't we gonna give him some more time?
    ------------
He's sold out Shaq, whined about Bynum, cursed the Lakers, demanded a trade, retracted a trade demand. He can't smile without smirking, he can't play without posturing, he can't breathe without drawing a foul. Think he's a snake? He agrees! The man nicknamed himself "Black Mamba."

Now if we could just find a way for the NBA's BoG to weigh IQ heavily in their analysis of our owners.

IMO coaching has a lot to do with his lack of delelopment, we can all agree the size, talent and willingness is all their with tyreke.

You cant have first time/real young coaches with a bunch of 1 and done/young players,
you need a guy that commands respect and the organization is commited too. players, espciallly young players wont respect a coach who hasn't done anything, or anything lately like PW, you need an X's and O's guy who has made numerous deep runs into the playoffs as the head man and a bunch of respected assistants working tirelessly with the young core on fundamentals and how to trust teamates.

If your going to skimp and go with young and cheap players you better pay top dollar for a proven coaching staff or you will be in the lottery year after year.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you're Reke, you're looking at teams like OKC, IND, MIN, MEM, etc that have great coaching and proper systems to develop young stars. There's really no reason to stay in Sac.

I'm actually pretty sure we lose Reke do to Magoofiness.

The question is, do we get new owners (which is pretty much a given, just a matter of how long) before we lose Cousins as well?

I doubt that Durrant would be a scrub here. The guy has a persona in interviews that to me shows intelligence. It's not just in the way he plays but everything he does. I don't think you have to have an IQ test to see it.

I have no personal experience with Tyreke but from what I have seen he does not strike me as having the personality of a Durrant or other top NBA caliber players. I think he might make a good 6th man change of pace guy if his ego would allow it. I wouldn't give him top money.

Around the time his agent came out here, word was they weren't interested in signing an ext coming off a terrible year where Reke was misused and played out of position. Not surprising. If I was Reke I'd tell Petrie and Smart to F off and leave as soon as possible. Then he'd come back and destroy our paper machete backcourt of IT/MT.

I could see a scenario where Reke does come back with at least a halfway decent jumper which will definitely improve his all around game, as apparently he's locked in and in beast mode right now, and then when the ext offer comes next Jan, he rejects it. That will be interesting. But this reeks of a franchise not committed to development of youngsters and not willing to invest is said development.

“Sacramento is where I want to be,’’ he said. “I want to bring the organization back, help the organization get started back winning. I love the city of Sacramento. That’s where I want to be. End of story. “We can dig a hole, throw that topic in there, cover it with dirt, pack it down. I want to be in Sacramento. End of story.’’ -DeMarcus Cousins

Our franchise literally is about to rise from the ashes.

Always a good idea to go to the original source of the information. It was a Sacramento Bee article by Jason Jones. It said the Kings were not expected to offer a contract extension to Tyreke. This is not a statement attributed to any source at all. It appears to be an educated guess by people outside the team. Its not even attributed to a souce in the organization. Of course, it would really be a mess, if such information did leak from a realiable source.

I will only say, that if the Maloofs don't extend Tyreke, it will be becasue they can't afford him on more than his rookie contract. The Maloofs are so poor, I wonder if they will even extend Cousins, when its his turn. I'm fed up with their cheapness as owners. Sell, dammit, to someone who can afford to compete in the NBA (Burkle). Phooey on the small market stuff. A number of NBA teams are in smaller markets than Saxramento, including the San Antonio Spurs.

OKC is a smaller market than Sacramento and they are in the finals with two max players. I dont buy the market excuse anymore the maloofs have to spend or GTFO.

Generally players jump at the first big extension to secure themselves financially. It would be bold of him to reject it and will speak volumes as to how he feels about being in this mess of a franchise.

Theres no way the broke maloofs extend him even if he improves, I would bet they use his improved play as increased market value around the deadline and pick up cheaper players/picks and use the we didnt want to handcuff our franchise with a huge contract excuse, and of course they will say that they will spend that saved money in the offseason as they say every year.

Yes, I should have mentioned that team, too. Thanks. Since Sacramento is generally listed as the 20th biggest media market. This can vary a bit depending on the source. Teams in areas with smaller markets than the Kings? Portland, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Oklahoma City (45), Memphis (48), New Orleans (53). I think that's all, but that's quite a few.

Having said that, Sacramento has the additional problem of lack of much corporate base. But certainly some of those other smaller markets don't necessarily have a large corporate base.

Exactly. They don't want to spend, but they want to be a winner? I'm afraid it's both or neither Mafool's...
