The problem is, what happened in the Dallas game looks a hell of a lot like "just playing basketball". Perhaps Cousins "made his own bed" the first time around, but it's gotten to the point where the league is now continually making that bed for him. He's getting suspended for that "History of bad behavior", but note that the most recent entry in the log is: "Ejection for being in the act of slapping at the ball in the post while the whistle blew, then walking away from the ref when told to."
Next thing you know he'll get suspended for going over the back on a rebound: "History of bad behavior: Suspension for minor contact with O.J. Mayo and ejection for being in the act of slapping at the ball in the post while the whistle blew, then walking away from the ref when told to."
Then it will be a suspension for making an 18-foot jumpshot: "History of bad behavior: Suspension for going over the back on a rebound, suspension for minor contact with O.J. Mayo, and ejection for being in the act of slapping at the ball in the post while the whistle blew, then walking away from the ref when told to."
What part of the self-fulfilling prophecy doesn't the NBA see here?
CD really knows very little about the league as a whole and actual knowledge relating to basketball. Some fo his basketball based tweets are absolutely stupid. No other way to put it. Many here know much, much more about the game than he does.
However, he was great for here we stay and rallying fans to support the team. Since then and in the past few months, ever since here we stay died out, he seems to have gone off the deep end. Real unfortunate he doesn't use his platform better. It's one thing for him to give up. It's another to give up so publicly and constantly put out asinine tweets given his platform and following. He went from being great for fans to now hurting more than he's helping.
He really just needs to shut up.
“Sacramento is where I want to be,’’ he said. “I want to bring the organization back, help the organization get started back winning. I love the city of Sacramento. That’s where I want to be. End of story. “We can dig a hole, throw that topic in there, cover it with dirt, pack it down. I want to be in Sacramento. End of story.’’ -DeMarcus Cousins
Our franchise literally is about to rise from the ashes.
Your right, his arm swing was deliberate. He pulled Mayo's hand off his arm with his left hand, and then swung his right arm down to keep if off, and in the process accidently hit him in the groin. You can believe what you want, but if you watch it in normal speed, you simply have to want to believe he hig the groin area on purpose. He wasn't even looking at Mayo when it happened. Did his hand hit Mayo's groin? Yes! I just don't think he did it intentionally. He said he didn't do it intentionally. So you can choose to believe him or not.
Whats frustrating to me, is that no one would have even known it happened if Mayo hadn't made an issue of it. No foul was called. There was no technical or ejection. As far as I'm concerned, it was minor compared to what happens on a regular basis. As I said before, how hard could it have been? I didn't see O'Mayo crumble to the floor. As Cousins said in a tweet. "Hello pot, meet the kettle"
Its hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard.
I don't know ... his right arm really makes no contact with Mayo's arm at all, and that's with his left hand holding Mayo's arm (so it's not like he doesn't know where Mayo's hand is). The motion he made seems too "downward driven" to be directed at knocking Mayo's hand away (where you'd probably hit outwards, like swatting a fly). Still, it's really arguable either way whether it was intentional or not, so I think a one game suspension is overkill. A fine at most.
Anybody just hear JVG comments? He went on for about a minute about how too young and disjointed the team is.
I don't understand why people keep saying this. The Dal broadcast was talking about and did replay it. It was on twitter well before Mayo said anything postgame.
The no foul being called is besides the point. That's not a play most refs will see live, but they did t-up the reaction from Mayo. I'd saying looking at Mayo doesn't matter either. You don't need to look to know where Mayo is.
I mean, has anyone here played basketball and thrown an elbow? You don't need to look before you do it. I've thrown a number of elbows to send a message or because some guy was pissing me off, and I didn't look at the guy right before throwing that elbow. You already have an idea of where he is, especially if you're bodying him up and he's grabbing your arm or shirt.
And I don't know if it was intentional or not, and even if it was a suspension is an overreaction. But I really don't know what people are watching who are 100% convinced it was completely unintentional. You can argue it either way, but it's not definitive.

I'm not going to get into what is or isn't justified. Lord knows the NBA league office does all sorts of things I don't agree with. But objectively speaking, when I saw the play in question, I'm not surprised some kind of punishment was levied. Especially considering who's involved. Some of Cousins' reputation is not deserved, but some of it is. And I'm tired of him putting himself in that position at all. I like Cousins a lot, but he still has a lot of growing up to do. He didn't need to pick a fight with Sean Elliot just like he didn't need to pick fights with Donte Greene or Paul Westphal. He's got no control over what other people do but he does have control over himself. I don't think that's an unfair expectation. What Ron Artest does or does not do is completely irrelevant.
Defense matters.
The Mavericks have a long and glorious history of protesting to the league over real or imagined slights. IIRC (and I'm sure I do) it was Mark Cuban who, during the playoffs, sent a video to the league of C-Webb allegedly dragging his pivot foot and demanded that the officials start calling him on it. It was a move Webber had made his entire career and was not actually traveling.
I'm personally way beyond tired of players taking to Twitter to voice their opinions or whine or boast or respond to other players. The same holds true for partisan team announcers.
What really aggravates me is that the league took so long to make a determination. The game was Monday. They had all day Tuesday to review it and come to a decision by that afternoon. There was no need or reason for them to wait until late today - and I'm not buying the bullpoop explanation by CD that they were waiting for the Kings to take action. A team doesn't take action on something like that, the league does.

Pretty much how I feel as well. He has to understand that like it or not, the spotlight is on him. Ok, things like this low blow on Mayo may be unintentional, or even if intentional happens very often in basketball games; they simply go undetected. But in terms of stuff like the confrontation with Sean Elliot and all it's on him to stay out of trouble.
That, I fully agree with. Put us in a position where even if we do appeal, it's not in time for the game so the suspension holds either way. The league had plenty of time to announce this quicker, and I expected no disciplinary action after not hearing anything for a day and a half.

DMC needs counseling, no doubt. Alot of talented NBA players out of work and broke. Just let him talk to those folks and he might see the error of his ways.
"If I could do it all over again"
This time I would be drunk....
Kevin Garrnet nut shot on Fyre no suspension, he also throw 2-3 elbows at Francisco Elsons nuts in the playoffs a while back and got no suspension.
At least the league is consistant...............
Reggie Evans grabs Chris Kamans nuts "Evans was fined $10,000 and a flagrant foul-two but not suspended for his actions"
