Has the time come to get smart?

We've had polls before on this, but I'm curious to see how many of us are out of patience...

My only hesitation is that I felt the same way about Theus, Musselman, Natt, Westfall. I wonder were we go from here. Kinda bleak outlook.

I advocated giving him a chance to work with the players, to develop his style, etc. What I've seen for the past month has convinced me he is no more a head coach than my stuffed Slamson doll. If we don't get someone in there to teach the youngsters proper game play, we will have ruined at least three or four careers before they've had a chance to even begin.

Yes, the time has come to fire Smart. I'd pass the torch to Alex English just as caretaker but also because he has a calm understated presence that is in stark contrast to Smart's know it all out of breath antics.
"I want the community to know that we're going to fight like crazy to get to where we need to be."
    – Kevin Johnson, reacting to reports of a potential sale of the Kings to a Seattle group

What's the difference between ignorance and indifference? I don't know and don't care.

I've been in the same boat as you. Every coach needs time to implement his system and get players comfortable with what he wants to offensively and defensively. Losses would not matter to me if we were seeing offensive sets being run, roles being defined, a set rotation of 9-10 guys, and players looking comfortable on the floor. None of this has happened. Our guys still look totally lost in half-court sets, the effort and energy isn't there on a nightly basis from everyone outside of JT, and we're still seeing the selfish 1 on 1 style of play from our top scorers.

    NOW is it time?!

I determined it was time within 2 months of him becoming head coach.
It was blatantly clear, way back then, that he was simply not qualified to turn this team around. No sub/roster skills, no ability to draw up plays, or any kind of offensive or defensive schemes whatsoever. KF's (and fans in general) bought his charismatic patter for too long, and that led to him being extended as a coach, TWICE already.

Now the team is a full year (at least) behind their rebuild, may miss out on the proven, experienced head coaches that are out there, and most damaging, may have missed their short window they had to install a competitive team before having to make the decisions to sign Tyreke (and perhaps DMC), and have one more year of eroding fanbase to contend with.
Now the Maloofs will likely be able to point to a Sacramento region which doesn't support the team (who would? They are LOSERS - I can barely stomach watching the games anymore) and may get the league to approve a move.

The Maloofs were brilliant to instill Smart as a coach - he provided the perfect smokescreen of charismatic bull**** that has allowed this area's support for the team to crumble around this fragmenting team.
For Kings' sake, GP and Maloofs - meet with Jerry Sloan!

I voted yes, because it needs to happen, but I worry about the maloofs hiring a replacement. They're not going to spend to get McMillan, or someone similar, so I worry that the train will continue. Hopefully the next coach will at least define roles and rotations, because it's what these kids need. They need structure, and they haven't gotten it in about two years.
Not everyone should get the green light. Players like Jimmer and IT deserve to know their roles, so that they don't feel every game is a tryout, forcing then to be heroes in order to earn PT.
I appreciate a good math pun - as long as it isn't too graphic.

too bad he will still be the coach tomorrow and the next day and the next day, because the owners dont give a flying ****

Well, I wanted him gone back in Feb, so you're not the only one, and I was killed for that opinion. But, I was also going off what he did with GS which I saw up close.

And you're right, we've lost almost a year of development. Extending was an asinine decision the first time. Extending him again in the middle of summer for no logical reason is one of the worst decisions this franchise has ever made. What's worse? We might end up losing our best young players over it.

“Sacramento is where I want to be,’’ he said. “I want to bring the organization back, help the organization get started back winning. I love the city of Sacramento. That’s where I want to be. End of story. “We can dig a hole, throw that topic in there, cover it with dirt, pack it down. I want to be in Sacramento. End of story.’’ -DeMarcus Cousins

Our franchise literally is about to rise from the ashes.

Sorry to be nit picking. But I think the Webb trade for spare parts and a candy bar and letting Rick go are significantly worse.

I went against the grain and said no, just because this batch of players is ... lousy. If it is to fire Petrie (finally) and Smart as a package, I'd vote yes. Otherwise it is just more of the same coaching carousel.

At this point I'd be ok with letting Alex English coach the team...

At this point, I'd be okay with letting Maxwell Smart coach the team; either Steve Carrell or Don Adams.

let me give you guys an Example of just how bad this guy is.

Last night vs IND, down 2 with 11 seconds left and George Hill goes to the FT line. makes the first, IND is now up 3. at this point you NEED a rebound if Hill misses, or the game is essentially over. Smart can make a sub after the first free throw to get rebounders in. but what does he do? leaves DeMarcus Cousins, one of the LEAGUES LEADING REBOUNDERS, on the ****ing bench. thats gotta be the most brain dead moronic coaching i have EVER SEEN. litterally that one situation proves that this guy is not mentally competent enough to coach in the NBA

with that said, i dont think we could possibly find a coach that could do worse with the team. so yes, fire him, do it now

It's funny to me that we always think it can't get any worse, when in fact it could always get worse, and what do you know...it has.
