    Post Amick: Dancer debacle

WARNING: The content discussed in this blog post may be inappropriate for minors. *** They look so happy. That's the worst part about Dancer-gate. Whether the Kings dance team is in the Monarchs locker room sipping on Prolly champagne or...

EDIT: I added a poll - and tried to make it simple. If you don't have a problem with the actions of the dancers, vote no. If you have a problem, vote yes.

I didn't add a lot of choices that would lead us into discussions of morals, etc.

Just the basic question. Does it bother you?

Totally preventable and ridiculous. And one of the LAST things the Kings need right now. They're trying to promote going to a Kings game as family entertainment.

The "dancers" have been deteriorating IMHO since Cara left. Some of the most recent "routines" are pretty raunchy, even by NBA standards. Even if those pictures are old, they're still showing inappropriate behavior. And it's not going to go over very well...

Inappropriate behavior for who? And when?

They are adults -- how they conduct their private life isn't really any of our business, and from the article apparently the pictures were supposed to be private. Always love the judgement of all the wonderful friends who distribute these things.

They start drinking or flashing their thongs on the court, then I'm concerned. Well...not actually -- I might go spring for some courtside seats.

Sorry, but I disagree. Some of the pictures were apparently taken AT ARCO ARENA. That's not private life - that's representing the Sacramento Kings. I know you don't think there's anything wrong with it but a lot of people do. Arguing moral issues, however, has never done us any good around here so I'll just respect your opinion while I disagree with it.

It may not be "our" business, but the pictures and the comments in the blog would seem to suggest that it was quite likely on "company" time, which makes it Kings business.

And, if it did happen at their place of employment, as it appears to have, then their employer most certainly has the right to determine whether or not it was inappropriate... which, it was my impression from the blog, they did.

Caught with their skirts down. Off the job and out of uniform. Make the jokes – bloggers are – but the Sacramento Kings aren't laughing and are mostly mum on a public relations flap over some salacious photos posted online of its Royal Court dancers.

Just for the record, I looked up the pictures, for research purposes only of course. These pictures aren't that bad. They are in their underwear, which at times is pretty much the same thing as some of their outfits for the court. You also see them drinking champagne *Gasp*, because NONE of us do that.

This is a big who cares. It's girls having fun.

    The Kings' Royal Court Dancers

    Any questions?

    Yea, I have one:

    What's the problem?

I checked out those infamous photos of the various dancers--I don't know which ones are presently on the team or not--and the photos look pretty harmless, though very beautiful. Nothing to get fired over, I would think.

What's up with the management getting uppity about "image" issues? I mean, come-on, these women are beautiful and highly photographic, but in the aforementioned photos, none of them were naked in any NSFW photos, so what's the problem with those photos referred to in a local paper article?

One does not dress like church clothes and sit down and recite prayers at parties, at least I never did and I never did see anybody else do that either, 'cept for an occasional shy wallflower or two.

I have yet to attend a Kings game this year, so I wonder if anyone in this forum actually watch the Kings' dancers dance, do you? Everytime I see them on TV, I see different and interesting outfits and very good choreography. These girls obviously work very hard at their craft and are good at it.

And when I see them dance, I don't think about salacious photos that they may have been in--I think about how good they are in their dancing, how much work that they put into their craft and how much I admire their active athletic beauty moving about in such poetic form. I focus--for the most part--on enjoying them in the present moment.

From what I've heard on the news, they are getting in trouble over the photos that were taken during the games in which there was alcohol present.

Also, it sounds like they are not happy about the picture in which 4 of the dancers are bending over the countertop bottomless(wearing only their tops, and thongs and high heels).

Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof also had little to say. "We obviously don't condone that type of behavior," he told Amick. "We'll deal with it internally."

And I think part of it was their wearing of their dance uniforms, at least in part. Had they been in "normal" clothing I don't think it would have caused such a ruckus.

Granted, there was no "nudity", but the thong shots were pretty close and in combination with the "celebration" of drinking causes image-conscious emplyers to get upset.

There's a difference between this and dancing on the court. To some its very minor, to some it isn't.

Yeah, it gives the team a bad image. Like you said, had they not been wearing the jerseys, it would be different.

Instead of paying Paris Hilton to party at the Palms, the Maloofs can now just export the dancers. When does the sextape come out? Please hire a director for that by the way.

This country's fear of sexuality is always astounding to me.

And the fact that the party-boy Maloofs are so outraged by their behavior is equally astounding.

The pictures are tacky, and you have to seriously wonder about the mental capacity of anyone who has not yet figured out that pictures posted publicly on the internet are likely to be found, but other than that it's a complete non-issue.

Just what we need. More drama... I remember when the only time the Kings hit the news was when they unexpected beat a good team. (Or when they won a game on a Monday night and Arby's gave away free roast beef sandwiches the next day.) In a way, I sure miss those days...
