View Full Version : Kings v. Dallas game thread
After a slow start, the Kings are in the midst of erasing a 15-point deficit. The score is now 31-24 Dallas at the end of the first quarter.
Maurice Evans just performed "major dunkage" on a spectacular pass from Webber, that for some reason known only to the scorekeeper, was not counted as an assist.
Kings look a little sloppy. Turnovers - but not because of bad play. Just not FOCUSED play, IMHO...

I disagree, vj9999. That inside move he made was off his repaired knee and he went hard and without hesitation.

It is sadly one of the most common sentences people use when they talk about Kings. It is a "fill in the blank" sentence so instead of DC on can pretty much put in any name on the reoster in the last 6 years. Makes me miss Hedo. At least he had a food poisoning.

There was a good article about Doug in today's Bee which is posted elsewhere on the forum.

Name one team who hasn't suffered injuries...
Just tonight, Carlos Arroyo went out with a sprained ankle for Utah.
It happens. It's part of the game.
In this case, you're being really unfair if you're singling out Doug. Since he got here, he has missed FOUR - count them as in 1, 2, 3, 4 - regular games.
This is pre-season, remember?

There has been a big misunderstanding on Your part here.
I am not blaming anyone - I just stated that it sucks not being able to play the best guys.

Big performances by Bobby J, Mo Evans, and Songalia. Barnes really hustled for a few boards too.

I guess something happened to your board? I had to re-register and put it off for a while.
What happened to Minard? I was looking forward to seeing Martin and Minard but only Martin was there. Is he hurt?
We suffered a catastrophic server problem.
Minard hasn't lived up to initial expectations, as far as most people are concerned. As a second round pick, it was questionable whether he would make the team. With the talents of Barnes and Evans, tonight could be the last time Minard is seen in a Kings uniform.

Ok folks calm down, this is PRE-SEASON. Different teams, coaches and palyers have differnt objectives from game to game and while winning is always nice it is not the top priority. The one question I can gaurentee you that Adelman did NOT need answered was if his starters can play competitvly aginst Dallas. *** for the starters the questions are more like... how is Webb moving? (please don't over do it in a preseason game) How is the ball movment (piss poor) How is Pedja doing at shaking off the summer rust? Is Martin really the guy I want to start if Doug is out? The biger and most important questions right now ARE about the bench. Is Bobby able to play at his old level (contract extension talk) and how is he running the second unit? Is Darius too slow to play at the 3? What do these prospects really have? How well do they paly with Bobby, Martin and Darius? How well do they p lay with the starters? How much can I depend on this NEW second unit?
The answers were GREAT. Webber moved well, Pedja shot well, Bobby played like he had never taken a day off, Martin prooved to be useable, maybe not everything you wnat, but certainly everything you want in a rookie. Evans and Barnes all but selad the deal, and as a unit that second string was sharp. Oh yes and we know that Alton Ford is NOT right for this team (or any other NBA team) What more do you want? A win against Dallas on their home floor, working the kinks out of the line up that will start the regular season? Let's be realistic. Besides to win the game the starters would not only have had to try harder, play more and actualy care more, but Evans and Barns and Martin would have played less. and all three of these guys needed all the time they could get.

Trust me, as a Mavericks fan I am worried that it took us having to put Damp and Dirk back in against your 2nd teamers just to secure a win. You guys are fine, Peja looked great out there, Bibby and Bobby is Bibby and Bobby, the best duo since Nash and Nick (ok maybe better), and Miller looked good.
You guys are fine, 55 wins and the Pacific division title. I am ready to watch tonight, Bibby v Nash has always been fun even though Mike put 24 a game on him last April.

I really like what you have said here, and i totally agree, preseason is for the coach to iron out problems and get a feel for who is going to contribute in the regular season. This loss or even a few regular season losses are not that bad, as evident from the spurs who always seem to start slow but are always in the hunt come playoff time.
However i dont know how you can change the tune with respect to this other team in the other thread, i have attached the quotes made by you for reference ;)
So they were palying to win, but lost to the new crew of Warriors? Does not sound like a team primed for success to me, but hey who am I to rain on your parade.
Well if you watched the game then you decide the meaning. Hell I'm an Existentialist, I don't belive in "true meanings." But that is MY story and I'm sticking to it. Seemed to me the Lakers were playing liked the game mattered, but you could be right they may have been just jerkig arround out there not caring if they won or lost. Great attitude
It would only matter if the Lakers were trying to win by keeping their starters in what would otherwise be a meaningless game. The meaning: This batch in Laekrland as is will be hard pressed to beat the Warriors. Fear not it's only 9 monts unitll the NBA lottery. So the real question is do you feel lucky?

Correct me if I am wrong in suspecting that a team playing a new line up of starters for 30+ min are seriously trying to win, while a team playing its returning line up for 15-20 min then working out prospects for the bench have different objectives.

I agree about preseason games not being significant, that i want to make it clear.
But to answer your point, yesterdays game stats are
Webber 29
Peja 25
Miller 25
bibby 24
martin 24
bobby 24
songaila 25 minutes
Teams have different objectives in preseason, from some teams that have an established system trying to jell in the new comers and to find the rotation, to some teams that have a new system which they are trying to get everyone understand and execute in games, preseason or not. Winning any game is good, but trying out things is different and the personnel who try things could also be different from team to team
