A firefighter fighting a fire in the Stanislaus forest lost his life today when the flames overran their position and some of them were unable to get out of the way. In addition to the one who didn't make it, another one is in very serious condition and 5 others were also injured.

Please include her family and friends and all the other firefighters (940+) fighting that fire in your prayers.

The firefighter's name has been released.

Eva Marie Schicke, 24, died when her position was overrun. She is the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty. She was part of a Heli-tack crew.
