"Melvin Ely: Another restricted free agent, but there's even more urgency to move him than the Cavs with Gooden (http://www.nj.com/columns/ledger/dalessandro/index.ssf?/base/columns-0/114032920289460.xml&coll=1). Someone might give him their full midlevel (five and 30M) this summer, and the Bobcats couldn't match that, or they'd be making their third-string power forward their highest-paid player."

Would love to see us go after him in the summer.

I like to have him as well but not for the full Mid-Level maybe start at 3mil but only if we send out 1 or 2 of the bigs we already got.

Melvin's cool, but not what we need. I watched Mel play his whole career at Fresno State and I thought he would be solid but he is rather average in the NBA.

Didn't look average when Okafor was out last year for 12 games or so, and in his contract year this year.

Everytime I have seen him this year he's looked pretty average to me.

Regardless, he's a solid big man that can play on both ends of the floor, and was moreso meaning as a back-up.

Former Bull Dog... Been watching Big Mel since his first College games... Nice big man making progress... I'd love to see him backing up SAR and maybe sliding into a starting slot. FYI he scored his first NBA points in ARCO as a Clipper.
